Being 43 is wild. People your age are living completely different lives. Some are grandparents. Some are raising toddlers. Some are newly divorced. Some are newly engaged. Some haven’t slept in three years. Some are in St. Tropez posting Aperol spritzes from a yacht. Some look 25. Some look like they personally remember the invention of Tupperware. Nobody got the same assignment.

I used to live in Flushing, Queens. I grew up there. My family knew this bakery and its owner, Albert Itzkowitz well. He is even a distant relative of my sister in law’s. Today, they found his body. He was murdered. “Itzkowitz sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and back and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. It’s unclear how long his body had been sitting near the quiet, picturesque lake.” I truly have no words. I have no words about this tragedy and I have no words about how the Jews are still not seeing what’s happening all around them. This is just absolutely terrible. So, what’s next? We now have actual antisemites running for Congress, with no shame, and they don’t even pretend to hide it by calling themselves anti-Zionists. They are proud Jew haters. We have Jewish men being murdered on the streets of New York. We have synagogues being vandalized. We have windows being shattered. We have Jewish businesses being boycotted. We have businesses refusing to serve Jews. What the hell is next?

This famous “Visit Palestine” poster was created in 1936 by Franz Krausz, an Austrian Jewish graphic designer who fled rising antisemitism in Europe and immigrated to Mandatory Palestine before the Holocaust. The poster was commissioned by the Tourist Development Association of Palestine, a Zionist tourism organization encouraging Jewish travel, immigration, and connection to the Jewish homeland. Krausz later became one of Israel’s pioneering graphic designers. So the irony here is incredible. People now use this poster as “proof” that Jewish people are foreign colonizers in the land… when the poster itself was literally created by a Jewish Zionist artist promoting Jewish connection to the land decades before Israel was founded. The actual history completely destroys the narrative. Friendly reminder: before 1948 the region was called Palestine under the British Mandate. Jewish people living there were also called Palestinians. So they are the Palestinians 🤯 Do your own research everyone.

My Orthodox Jewish parents divorced when I was 5 years old. My father gave my mother her gett immediately, zero hesitation. Custody and child support were negotiated in the regular court system. A gett is not a bargaining chip.
