@danjamin18 @edlars53 @YouSpooneeBard @antiantimormon Among these modern egyptologists are some that are not very modern, dead for 40 years or more. The rest hysterically claim the Book of Abraham can't be true because of their translation of it. But they never had the papyrus containing the book of Abraham to translate from...

Have you ever paid attention to the symbols and hand gestures of the three figures in this section of Facsimile 2? Why would ancient Egyptians use all these Masonic ritual signs? They must have had a time machine.

Can anyone recommend a Protestant podcaster who offers an apologia of our theology against Catholic theology who is a clear creationist—six days, global flood? I know there are some who do this who are local flood, symbolic creation type of people and I’m not interested in them. If it’s someone, for example, who would promote Biologos and Francis Collins or work with Biologos, I don’t want that guy. Is there anyone like this?

When @conservmillen says white evangelicals are currently "the only block consistently holding it down" on all the existential issues that matter, this is just one example of what she means. And yet @TuckerCarlson, while virtually never addressing any domestic issues that matter in I don't know how long, is uniquely producing content that threatens the voting bloc that is the only reason America hasn't elected a Mamdani by now. Ask yourself why, and then ask yourself this: if you were the devil and purposefully using Tucker Carlson to deconstruct this crucial Christian voting bloc, what would you be doing any differently than what Tucker currently is doing?
Steve Deace tweet media
Allie Beth Stuckey@conservmillen

All this hate for evangelicals when, statistically, we are the only bloc consistently holding it down for biblical marriage, the pro-life cause, secure borders, and every other issue. We are by far the most conservative and united in every political, cultural, and moral area. This is not statistically contested. Without the strength and cohesion of this group, conservatives lose everything. Consequently, the country loses everything. Not an exaggeration. So ask yourself: why would someone want to divide, destroy, and demoralize this stalwart group? The answer is obvious if the person is progressive, but it becomes a bit murky when the people targeting this group are on the “right,” right? Something to ponder

I just finished my first biography of Brigham Young (John G Turner). I was surprised how similar he is to Donald Trump. Especially in leadership.

@edlars53 @antiantimormon So you don't know what modern egyptologist you're even referencing, or that they're even modern. You also are not familiar with what that alphabet and grammar document was actually for, because it wasn't for translation.

@antiantimormon Smith's process involved transcribing characters into an "Egyptian Alphabet and Grammar," where he assigned phonetic values and definitions that do not align with established Egyptological translations, and his explanations of the facsimiles have been shown to be contradictory.

@YouSpooneeBard @edlars53 @antiantimormon Not only that, but the anti-Mormon literature that tells them modern egyptologists said such and such, are actually from about a hundred years ago. Not exactly modern egyptology.

@edlars53 @antiantimormon Wow, the academic caste—who said global warming was going to flood the eastern seaboard, that men can get pregnant, and that Covid couldn’t be spread if people stood six feet apart—translated millennia-old Egyptian papyri differently than Joseph Smith?

@antiantimormon Modern Egyptologists and non-LDS scholars reject Joseph Smith's translation of Egyptian hieroglyphics as inaccurate, noting that the surviving papyri fragments are standard funerary texts (specifically the "Breathing Permit of Hôr") that bear no resemblance to the Book of Abraham

dieselcoondog@diesel_coondog

@jimbolicious_c We really need our own version of Babylon Bee. The dog mom memes write themselves. I would start one but it would be too tempting to get carried away and I would end up Carol Lynn Pearson or Bagley-ing myself.

@DrFrankTurek @Acts17 Frank can't keep his story straight. Joseph Smith is bad, because it's one guy getting revelation, but when it's pointed out that he has multiple witnesses to the things he claims he saw, Frank shifts the goal posts every time. Talk with some informed Latter-day Saints Frank.

@RavnReborn @LDS_Liberty @stackerco Prophets teach general principle: family is Central to God's plan and women raising their own children is best. They are right. Some people took it to the extreme and thought they needed to drop out of school as soon as they were married and some judged those who didn't.

@JaguarsRCool @LDS_Liberty @stackerco Sure acted like it was unreasonable and just cultural impressions cause by pride (as if it were never taught in plain English by prophets) You realize this is just another example of why we can’t trust them.

Comments disabled… Do you remember when our prophet asked us to be peacemakers? If this was a test, we failed.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints@Ch_JesusChrist

“I grew up in Arizona, served a mission in Mexico, and went to college thinking I had a pretty clear path for my life. Then I met my now wife Victoria, and everything changed in the best way. “She always knew she wanted to be a doctor. Pediatric neurology isn’t an easy road, but it’s who she is, compassionate, steady, brilliant, and drawn to help kids and families through the hardest things life hands them. When she got into med school in California, we packed up and moved. “Stepping into her dream together was an easy choice. I wanted to support her the way she has always supported me. And honestly, watching her work and sacrifice and love people like she does has strengthened my faith more than anything else. “My path hasn’t been as clear. I’ve tried different directions, learned a lot, prayed a lot. Some days I still feel like I’m figuring it out. But I do know that God doesn’t measure timelines. He measures love, humility, and the way we show up for each other. “Supporting her doesn’t shrink my purpose—it expands it. Our callings from God can look different, and that’s beautiful. I’m building my future too, but I’m grateful that right now, part of my purpose is cheering for the person I love most as she steps into hers. “There’s not one 'right way' to build a family or a future. For us, this is ours. And it’s sacred.” — Nate

@PurpleKoya21 Spectacularly. Many American Saints seem so saturated in prevailing political discourses (of all kinds) that they don't even realise how much it colours everything they think, do, and say. Imagine looking in on this as a curious non-member!
