Three years around 150 games. League winners. It’s been a pleasure some great memories and some incredible fans. 🐏
Ramsgate Football Club@RamsgateFC

Club Statement – Thank you Lee Martin Ramsgate FC will begin the process of appointing a new first team manager following the departure of Lee Martin. As we reflect on the season, it feels the right time to provide an update on the managerial position. When Lee Martin came into the club, we were in a difficult position and facing the real possibility of relegation. His remit was simple - to keep us in the league. Lee achieved that. Results improved quickly and, at one stage, we even found ourselves looking towards the play-off places, which is a credit to the work done during that period. However, a challenging recruitment period leading into March meant that, over the final six weeks of the season, the playing budget was significantly underspent. That period has been reflected in our recent run of results, with six defeats from our last seven games, including this week’s cup final. This decision reflects the direction we want to take as a club, not any one result. As a club, our culture has always been about looking forwards. It’s a mindset that has taken us from the brink of Step 5 to competing at Step 3, and now to a position where we are able to look towards Step 2. As planned, Seb Tidey will step down from his role on the committee at the end of the season. A significant part of Seb’s work with the club has been contributing to the development of a new strategic document, which sets out a very specific plan for the footballing side of the club. To give ourselves the best possible chance of success on the pitch, we believe it is important to explore the market and identify the right manager to deliver that plan. One thing that remains incredible is our supporters. Their backing is the reason we now find ourselves knocking on the door of promotion to Step 2, and we are unwavering in our determination to match their ambition and push this club forward. We would like to place on record our thanks to Lee for the job he has done. He came in at a difficult time, helped realign our objectives, and ensured the club moves forward from a stable position. Seb Tidey, Tom Hadler and Mark Buckingham will take charge of the remaining two games of the season. The club will now invite applications for the role of first team manager from candidates with experience of building teams capable of challenging for promotion to Step 2. Applications should be submitted to chairman@ramsgate-fc.co.uk

@thejackal5881p @90sfootball Most likely, he could finish from pretty much any situation inside the box. Gerd Müller is one that I can think of who would rival him. Der Bomber 💣

@90sWWE It wasn’t just that Hogan changed his style for the crowd, but as he got older in the States his body was breaking down. He has huge trouble with his knees, hips and back, and couldn’t do anywhere near as much as he did in Japan.

@JvanderB78 Absolutely Jorg! We need to develop practices that allow the players to interpret and act on the changing environment rather than telling them to pass from A to B etc.

Embrace chaos as the core reality! Games are inherently unpredictable: opponents adapt, conditions shift, mistakes happen, momentum swings. Training must mirror this “beautiful storm” rather than neat grids & choreographed predictable patterns which build false confidence.

I remember Bruce Arians’ philosophy is that if as a staff member you miss a family occassion then it will be him who will fire you. Leadership is this. Pursuing that last small detail might look important, but staying mentally healthy will put everything onto a different level.

New #Bills HC Joe Brady, talking about the sacrifices coaches’ wives make, mentioned how he once called his wife on the way to a game while she was going into labor — and found out after the game that she had given birth on her own. “This game takes away time, energy, and presence from you, and you’ve carried the weight that comes with this job so I can pursue my calling.”

@AdvFtbAcad No coaching done here, just someone shouting about pressing. When? Where? What are the triggers? What about the game state? What are the players doing behind the first player?

@AdiGanchev1 @StevenVent101 Unfortunately true. For example in PSV when I visited years ago they used to do workshops and invitations for local grassroots teams to watch sessions etc. This kind of interaction between grassroots and pro is incredibly rare in the UK.

@StevenVent101 Fascinating. The English system is quite "elitist", with academies separated completely. In other European countries all clubs have the opportunity to play against each other and the gap between academies and some local clubs is a lot smaller. The level of coaches as well.

Analysis of youth development systems across Europe revealed – unsurprisingly - that most top talent (players valued over £12m) progressed through the nation’s main academies at some point. However, the final column in the table highlights that most of these players did not start in these academies from the youngest age groups. In fact, the trend is for a wide base of talent to be nurtured in local or partner clubs before they begin to move into a ‘best with best’ environment at the 12-16 stage. These findings suggest that, in the UK, academies either recruit too early or ‘grassroots’ doesn’t have the infrastructure and expertise to develop talent like these European nations? 🤔 @TheS_Resource #Coaching

@AdamSchefter @SethWickersham @DVNJr Something I've been saying for a long time, if the Pats didn't accident into Tom Brady in the 6th round Bill Belichick would be among the most highly regarded defensive coordinators in the NFL and I'm clearly not the only person who thinks that way

Bill Belichick, the 8-time Super Bowl-winning HC, is not a first-ballot Hall of Famer, per @SethWickersham and @DVNJr. Belichick fell short of the 40 out of 50 votes needed for induction to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

FT editorial: the constant sacking of football head coaches (wrongly still called "managers") illustrates how badly most clubs are run. Clubs and fans need to realise that the head coach isn't very important. Recruitment (= transfers) matters much more as.ft.com/r/73922630-932…
