@Pajamaparty3rd @THetmanczuk @AndreaMicieli Canada cannot afford to pay for anything! Federal government is paying roughly 55 billion a year on interest already to service the debt created by 10+ years of reckless spending! Tax payers are already way over burdened! This train is a horrible idea and all it is for is votes

@Jamie306customs @THetmanczuk @AndreaMicieli Perhaps one day, but it’s totally reasonable for government to fund this project when the biggest winners will be indirect beneficiaries. Unlike pipeline where biggest winner are direct beneficiaries.

Say yes to both high speed rail and pipelines = gain the highest number of votes, or at least neutralize some votes you lose on one issue Say yes to high speed rail and no to pipelines (Liberals) = dumb but Liberals don’t lose that many votes doing this because they maintain votes where it counts. Saying no to high speed rail and yes to pipelines (Conservatives) = playing only to Alberta and conservative BC. Electorally retarded. Are Conservatives willing to lose Toronto, the 905 they gained, and the 905 they could pick up and younger, and middle aged votes along the routes because of property owners who don’t support a national vision? Oh, and unions.

Right move. It's just another project to appease Quebec, hence why we're footing the bill for it to go to all the way to Quebec City. The majority of Canadians will never set foot on an Alto train.
Andrea Micieli@AndreaMicieli

Wrong move. Way to lose urban, suburban, and younger votes because there’s NIMBY complainers. Conservatives should be able to think big while protecting the public purse. Canadians want to see national projects. Carney would be right to hit the Conservatives on this. And he will, effectively.

@Pajamaparty3rd @THetmanczuk @AndreaMicieli This rail should also be a private company! And yes all pipeline should be private also! The government needs to get out of the way and stop all the bullshit so Canada would have private investment once again! Canada cannot afford to borrow more money for these shiny projects

@Jamie306customs @THetmanczuk @AndreaMicieli A rail will cause significant private investment in the surrounding area as well as substantial economic growth. Also nobody is against a pipeline. They’ve said we will build it if a private company wants one.

@stevenmackinnon Show us some numbers that support this train! How many years till it’s paid off? Will it be self sustainable? How many riders a year are needed?

Pierre Poilievre, once again, is showing Canadians that he has no vision to create jobs and grow the economy.   For decades, Canadians have advocated for a modern, fast, inter-city rail network. Alto is a generational investment that will transform travel and connect communities. It will boost GDP by $35 billion annually, create over 51,000 well-paying jobs, and help Canadians work, study, and travel more efficiently.   Pierre Poilievre is turning his back on Canadians from Quebec City to Toronto and the communities in between. Investing in High-Speed Rail means building a more connected, competitive Canada, and proves Canada can get big things done.   The Conservatives, as usual, think small. Turning away from nation-building investments is the wrong choice, and one Canadians reject at a time when we need to build and grow.

@MongoHopia @THetmanczuk @Pajamaparty3rd @AndreaMicieli What are the population differences? What will the cost of tickets be? How much are the yearly cost on maintenance and upkeep? Will it sustain its self or will tax payers have to keep paying for it?

@jernalistNB @FiftyFootNest How many years will it take to recover the money spent on this? How much would a ticket cost and how many people need to use it for it to support its self?

It’s interesting that Pierre Poilievre is against high-speed rail, given his party’s platform literally says, “we support rail infrastructure across Canada, including innovative high-speed passenger rail where warranted.”

Pierre Poilievre announces that the Conservatives are against the high speed train project between Toronto and Quebec City, and if in power will cancel it; "I am confirming that a future Conservative government will cancel this $90 billion boondoggle altogether." OK so how are Conservatives planning to build world class infrastructure?

@Jamie306customs @ecg518 @TheBuckYouWill @ZelenskyyUa JFC, no way you're actually that dumb. They are called the bread basket of the world, if Russia takes them over there would be global price shocks because of it. Not to mention our security at home, Russia claims Canada's northern island are theirs. We are on their invasion list.

Canada’s latest package delivers strong new sanctions against Russia’s shadow fleet, including 100 tankers. It reinforces the pressure over Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine. This sanctions package also targets Iranian drone manufacturers. Important and timely steps. Both Russia and the Iranian regime must feel the pressure and must be stopped. Thank you to @MarkJCarney and Canada!
