@pepstrickyblues What a silly chap you are, Bernardo and Rodri is by far the best pivot we have. The difference was having Cherki at 10, makes all the difference

Would love to see the high tackle again but huge balls by Ramos to sink that kick. Much better by England, even with some baffling decisions against us (also some baffling decisions by us) France deserved Champions #FRAvENG #GuinnessM6N

@Hurricane15 @ajsrugby Think it was actually given for a deliberate knock on Andy but tbh the first penalty was far more kickable!

@DavidMooney I think it’s the body language of certain players and the results they get on the pitch. They’ve clearly got the quality so when they’re not getting the results, it has to be a mental block. Although we’re also tactically poor atm

Out of interest, how do people know with such certainty that there was no fight in that team? Guardiola's spent a decade saying that, in bad moments, it's not about running more and chasing the ball and diving into challenges.

Just an idle thought but remember all those times when Guardiola's line-ups used to piss people off for being too conservative...

Just the simplest goal — long goal kick, big/good touch, cuts out everybody, most particularly the left-back and the keeper

Like Marmoush vs Newcastle and Foden vs Brentford… which City players love/loved goals against specific opposition? Hit me! 🤔

@EnglandRugby Get him gone. No-one’s ever liked him, and this six nations has been so poor, it’s unforgivable. Sack him after Paris then find a coach who is adaptable and won’t lose every game where plan A doesn’t work.

I get the opinion, it's just not one I share. I would argue he's had 3 meaningful 6N including this one in which they placed 3rd and then 2nd. Last year, bar winning the grand slam they couldn't have done much more to win, bar winning with more bonus points etc. He also beat NZ at Twickenham for the first time since 2012, got to a Semi-Final of a WC, it all depends on the frame you look through. 6 Nations are hard to win, if they weren't they wouldn't be worth winning

Seeing alot of talk about Borthwick and his job on here. He is the same coach that literally just came of the back of a 12 game win streak which included Arg, NZ, Aus, Fra etc. The performance was abject, and I agree the team needs a rocket but let's all take a breath...

@DreamXVRugby I think we can’t count the World Cup, we had a very easy draw, he still did well but not well enough to earn much credit. The NZ result was excellent but I just don’t see how he wins us a World Cup. That has to be the aim, he can’t even win a 6 nations so it’s time to move IMO

@DreamXVRugby But he’s several years in and hasn’t won a 6 nations, overseen our 2 worst home losses and our first home loss to a tier 2 nation. Too many bad records he’s setting and a poor style to boot

@JamieT_97 Yeah don't get me wrong, I'm not excusing the losses (and I'm sure they're not either) but just don't think the answer is a change in coaching staff. Also difficult to know what is going on behind the scenes, something must be as it's a fairly step backwards

@DreamXVRugby Yeah I get what you mean. You just can’t lose heavily to a pretty poor Scotland side and they get battered at home to the worst Ireland side in 5+ years + expect to keep the fans onside. We complained that Eddie didn’t take the 6 nations seriously + losing these is not ok either!

I don't know. Scotland play really pretty rugby, so do Italy so do Fiji. It just doesn't win tournaments. I get it, arguably the only team to ever manage it were the All Blacks and now only recently the Boks (and even that is built on a similar style to rugby and they fall back to it often). I think it will come and I saw some shoots of it in the Autumn but it takes quite a while for that to build in. More worrying for me is the lack of a plan B when the initial plan doesn't work out.

@AmosMurphy_ I think this would be good. The only question is what is the threshold for overturns on the reviews. In cricket, you get the ‘umpires call’ element which would be really difficult in subjective football calls. I like the idea, but not sure how we implement it

Long believed the compromise is to introduce a review system like Test cricket. Give each team two reviews per match. They can send it to VAR for contentious decisions. If it's overturned, they keep the review. All objective offside calls are checked regardless.
Amos Murphy@AmosMurphy_

People will no doubt use this Aston Villa vs Newcastle game as a gotcha for those who say VAR should be scrapped. But all it's highlighted is that the quality of officiating is in the gutter. Doesn't matter if they're on the pitch, or behind a TV screen.
