Nobody should be double parking. It’s why we also need to repurpose more curb space for loading zones—and will. Overnight on-street parking wasn’t legal until 1950. How curb space is used is a choice. The city of now and the future needs to think holistically about that choice.

DOT is no longer about transportation, they are about crippling transportation, at least PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION. Don't hear them complaining about Uber + Lyft, or Amazon trucks parked in the middle of the street for mobile distribution centers, but private cars, different story!

The Brooklyn Bridge is a vital transportation link and an iconic landmark destination — a Times Square in the sky with more than 10 million annual visitors. We were thrilled to join Mayor Mamdani today for the announcement of a common-sense redesign of its Manhattan entrance!

Removing cars from cities is always controversial, but once you're brave enough to do it and witness the improvements, nobody ever looks back.

This is a staggering waste of taxpayer money and yet another disturbing example of the lengths some will go to keep women from having power over their own lives and futures. Contraceptives are lifechanging, lifesaving tools and one of the best ways to lift people out of poverty the world has ever seen. There are so many women who wanted and needed these supplies. There were organizations willing to buy and distribute them. What happened instead is unjustifiable. nytimes.com/2026/03/26/wor…

"The triumph of congestion pricing also offers a larger reminder: Government, done right, has immense power to improve people’s lives....Leaders should instead take political risks, as officials in New York did, to create programs that can deliver tangible results."

The New York Times editorial board today gets it right: congestion pricing works and is here to stay. nytimes.com/2026/03/27/opi…

We’re building the Manhattan-side bike lane and pedestrian entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge in time for the World Cup. New Yorkers deserve to enjoy the game on their feet, on their bikes, and with ease.

For too long, there has been a gaping hole in Manhattan's protected bike lane network, with no safe way to travel south below 14th Street in the middle of the island. In a few months, New Yorkers will finally be able to safely bike from Union Square down to the Brooklyn Bridge!
NYC DOT@NYC_DOT

More space for🚶‍♂️ Better connections for🚴‍♂️ We’re upgrading bike connections and pedestrian space from Lower Manhattan to Union Square. Improvements include a continuous two-way protected bike lane, expanded sidewalks, and safer street crossings.

A nice detail of this proposal - moving a big Citi Bike dock off the sidewalk and onto the roadbed - making it easier to get or dock a bike, connnecting directly with the bike lane, while making a lot more room for pedestrians - a real win/win that can be replicated elsewhere

Yesterday, Manhattan Community Board 2 unanimously approved a resolution asking DOT to lower speed limits to 20 mph across the district. This is the eighth CB to pass such a resolution. The number of New Yorkers represented by boards making this request now exceeds one million.
