I spent a year as my son’s full time aide inside his private school. My son is twice exceptional — gifted and autistic. The teacher couldn’t do 4th grade math or write proper English. He would correct her and she would get annoyed. He was technically right every time. He was also getting in trouble for stimming. Other kids were cruel. I watched all of it firsthand, every single day. The school couldn’t meet his needs. So I left and did it myself. Now the media is calling homeschool moms “nationalists.” That’s what they do to women who actually get involved in their children’s lives instead of handing them over to a system that doesn’t work.
