Court-packing is a completely mainstream view on the political left now. They see it as entirely justified because they are unhappy with recent decisions. They're not interested in the "judicial philosophies" behind the opinions - they just want their way. They're refreshingly honest about this.
Rep. Ro Khanna@RepRoKhanna

The Supreme Court has engaged in an ugly recidivism that has marked the fastest rollback of Black political rights since Reconstruction. 18 year terms limits on Justices now. Expand the court from 9 to 13 Justices now.

In which @helenlewis dismisses my point and then herself immediately confirms it. Repealing the 19th A would require an extensive public campaign, 2/3 of two bodies that can barely pass a budget, and 3/4 of states, which would include many blue states. Our process is designed to ensure overwhelming popularity sustained over time (a process I might note that was happily violated by the left when they illegally attempted to resurrect the ERA). A couple mentions by podcast bros do not constitute anything close to the BEGINNING of a campaign to reverse the 19th A, let alone a successful one. For a repeal to be successful, most of Helen’s ideological fellow travelers would have to flip and agree with the manosphere guys she profiles here. I find that deeply unlikely, to say the least, and not a political outcome worth expending energy worrying about. But what does she conflate with repealing the 19th A in the very same paragraph? Undoing a SCOTUS decision panned across the political spectrum for all but its outcome and one that threw the abortion issue back to the democratic process in the states. The idea that combat may not be the best place for women because of sex differences and problems arising from sex-integrated units. And Hegseth’s restoration of a single standard and no-BS merit system to the military, which has played a role in record recruitment. Suddenly, the things that are “off limits” in public discourse have multiplied! And that’s exactly how the left “dishonestly uses it to silence real policy and cultural debate.”

.@NYCMayor claims he wiped out a $12 billion deficit—but watchdogs say it's smoke and mirrors. His $124.7B budget relies on one-time money, a $4B state bailout from @GovKathyHochul, and a pension accounting gimmick that pushes costs onto future generations well into the 2040s. The @ManhattanInst's Ken Girardin and John Ketcham put it bluntly: "a state bailout standing on a pension gimmick wearing a trenchcoat." Also, a $7B deficit is already projected for 2028. Socialism didn't balance the budget—it just borrowed time. @JarrettStepman writes: dailysignal.com/2026/05/13/mam…

I think a story about the Meiji restoration and the tension between tradition and “progress” could have been exceptional rather than just a confused but still enjoyable action movie. My feeling is that the Western writers just couldn’t escape the familiar Dances With Wolves message which makes no sense in the context of 19th century Japan. The question that’s interesting to me that the movie got close to engaging with is how a nation changes and adapts to a moving world without losing key elements of what it was and has been. All they could come up with is a kind of vague anti-Western message.

I love The Last Samurai as much as the next guy, but it’s not a right-wing movie. Just like the movie Avatar, it’s a remake of Dances With Wolves with Samurai instead of Indians or blue aliens. It takes a gang of murderous pagan thugs, terrorists, and warlords who were rightly conquered by western law and order, and paints them as noble savages, wise, serene, and in touch with nature. Imagine a film that painted the child-sacrificing Aztecs and Mayans as “noble” protectors of their “tradition.” Some right wingers have reacted to the progressive bias that “newer is automatically better” and replaced it with “older is automatically better.” Neither are true. “Embracing tradition” isn’t always right. Which tradition are you embracing? True conservatism doesn’t measure things by age or tradition or recency, but by truth.

The most right-wing movie of the last few decades is the Last Samurai. The good side is explicitly a traditional, religious, patriarchal, warrior aristocracy resisting modernity. You just don't notice how right-wing it is because most of the good guys are not white.

This is the second week in a row masked protesters have descended on the same Brooklyn synagogue. Hezbollah flags, assaults on civilians, clashes with police—and the mayor who invited Mahmoud Khalil to Gracie Mansion posted about soccer fields while it was happening. @JarrettStepman writes: dailysignal.com/2026/05/12/int…

🚨Planned Parenthood funding resumes July 4. I asked @POTUS if he would like Congress to stop it. “Congress is now negotiating. We've been very good for the people that want it, for the people that are here, and we'll see how that goes. It's been a very thorny to put it. To put it mildly, it's been a very thorny issue. It's under it's all under negotiation right now,” he told @DailySignal.

NYC is already facing a "historic" budget crisis, and @NYCMayor's socialist pitch depends entirely on taxing the rich—the same rich who are now leaving. A Citizens Budget Commission study found those departing NYC have higher incomes per capita than those arriving. Lower tax revenues + more spending promises = a financial doom cycle. @JarrettStepman writes: dailysignal.com/2026/05/09/mam…

@BlueBoxDave We need to be in Union Square the day that stupid climate doomsday clock is supposed to hit zero. It's in like three years now. Will they reset it or just quietly retire the thing?

This sounds cool. But wait. 400 diapers will last a family with a newborn approximately five weeks. The program will cost the state approx. $12.4 million this year alone. That money will be funneled through a company called Baby2Baby, which will then provide their branded diapers to 400 participating in hospitals (California has over 500 hospitals in total.) Meaning that instead of lowering taxes and letting families keep their own money to buy essentials like diapers, California takes their money, pumps it through a “nonprofit” that has overhead and whose CEO made $240,000 in 2024, to provide a “free” service available only in certain locations, and that you could have bought yourself for much cheaper.
FactPost@factpostnews

Gov. Gavin Newsom has announced California will be the first state in the nation to provide free diapers to newborns. Families will receive 400 diapers when discharged from the hospital.
