@MarketingMax And some don’t even have a email flow to convert the person.

The #1 reason I don't do affiliate deals?
99% of brands who ask for affiliate deals / rev share deals have a god-awful landing page
I could send 1,000 of their perfect ideal customers to their landing page in a single day but if it's not compelling & proven to convert at scale...
I lose out on potential guaranteed revenue & they think my audience sucks
Lose lose
The #2 reason I don't do affiliate deals?
Brands offer too little ... giving away 20% of your $99/mo SaaS subscription (aka $20/mo) is a joke!
Be more creative & compelling please

@liahaberman Be careful, look for who has clicked a link. Many people have systems that block the trackers from substack and email services. See if a portion of those people have clicked a link if they opens are zero.
English

@content_grinder I am always open to Guest columns in the social juice newsletter. Not a huge publication, though.
English

@jsstansel I feel like Nir Eyal’s book is the only one that doesn’t tell you to do that.

I want to tell you who the international #StateofSocial24 speaker is sooooo badly. Keeping it a secret is killing me.
Trust me tho, it might be our biggest industry get yet 🤔

@JaskaranTSJ @jappleby There was nothing wrong with your reply. I informed Jack as such and told him it’s a bad look to insult his readers but he blocked me 🤷🏽
Portland, ME 🇺🇸 English

Here’s an email I received last night.
There’s a perception that it’s okay to be rude to creators, or that creators owe you something. There’s also the understandable advice to ignore people who think it’s okay to communicate like this.
I have a different POV.
I’m not gonna lose sleep at night over stuff like this, but I’m also not gonna let someone speak to me this way. Far too often we let bullying go unchecked.
“But isn’t a reply exactly what he wanted?” I don’t know, probably? I’m not gonna psychoanalyze someone who thinks this is normal communication. I’m only worried about how I feel. I laughed, sent a “go fuck yourself,” reply, and blocked him.
I love feedback. I’ve actually made huge changes to my content approach from reader feedback! But it’s truly not hard to have conversations, even critical ones, without being a colossal dick.
The internet (and especially twitter) tend to normalize rude behavior in a way that’s never say well with me. I’d rather be a person who speaks up when attacked or when someone’s rude to a friend than sit silently.

English

@jappleby I don’t understand. In my previous replies I have said I like your content. I shared an opinion on why people might differ the value of content in general.
It breaks my heart to know that you feel like I disrespect you, which I don’t. I have been reading newsletter from start
English

It’s just truly bizarre behavior to rank or say someone else is better than another person when no one is asking.
If it wasn’t clear from my many replies to you, I find you immature and rude and don’t wish to speak to you.
⬇️ this is rude, guy. You need to learn to speak to people.
marketer@JaskaranTSJ
@jappleby I don’t use this account. I had followed you from this one from a while. Nothing is my problem, I said your newsletter is nice and valuable. The other ones are a little better because they are focused on marketing not social media only.
English

@JaskaranTSJ Why are you tweeting me still when you literally told me to block you? Which I did? Why continue to engage from another account, once again being unnecessarily rude? What is your problem?

@jaskaransainiz @Passionfruit4Us is trying a lot to change the space.
English

Social Media is going through its worst state.
I have found few issues in the social media space, that need to be addressed.
1/ Average & Inspo Content
Your Ideal follower is tapped
Out from regular social media loops of content, you preach to become a creator or Creative Business. 99% others are doing the same, they all Look at each other in terms of creativity.
And create average & Inspo Driven content. That's why everything on social Looks the same. Stop looking at others, show your skill & creativity. Break the loop.
2/ Social Media Search
The Reports are preaching people using social media to search stuff. It is happening but search features on social media are still in development & inaccurate. The intent of people searching on social media isn't much towards purchase & growth. When Google's search is still developing, Social Search will take few more years for accuracy & purchase intent building.
3/ Influencer marketing gone dumb
Influencers work like a charm. But 99.9% agencies doing influencer marketing don't do much. They don't have much knowledge & expertise.
What they offer is time saving, many agencies have bad strategy & creatives on their board. And many time non-marketing people do the strategy. If you are brand or creator, the best option is to work without agencies.
4/ Data Gaps vs A lot of Data
Today you can access a lot of data within few clicks but you can't make sense out of that data. Because there exist huge gaps within these data. But all of the advertising channels like FB, Snap & TikTok reaching a wrong audience. Only way to fix is by doing it yourself, collecting data & user research.
5/ “I know it all”
This industry is going through gurus & marketers thinking "they know it all". A trend or what you consume on social media doesn't enable you to say you know the trends or social media.
Your strategy & marketing will be bad if you generalise who you want to reach.
-
What's the worse? The worse is mindset about thinking what I see or what a big publication told is the truth on social media.
The problem with this industry is we understand the issues but we forget them. Because how fast everything goes. Don't do that, you can slow down. To focus on the right things.
It could be better, if you think social media is a universe & the users aren't humans of earth. But humans of a platform.
You will learn how they live here on the app & what they seek. Only if you think differently.
