Good news... Next week it starts to warm up fast. Bad news... It will warm up fast AND rain a lot. Creeks and other flood prone areas will see a risk of flooding. But we've got lots of notice about this, so hopefully we can be ready.

The #BlueJays will honour the first game in franchise history with a $0.77 Hot Dog Night on April 7th. I didn’t expect to write that sentence when I woke up this morning, but such is the gift of life.

Sunday January 25th's snowfall at #YYZ at the top of the heap for the most single day snowfall! This January also surpassed the infamous January of 1999 when Mayor Mel Lastman called in the army. These are numbers recorded at Pearson. Downtown recorded 118 cm of snow in Jan '99.

School closures, flight delays & all around rough travel across the GTA & much of southern & eastern Ontario. If you must drive, pack a shovel; top up the washer fluid & be prepared for a much longer & slower commute. Note: salt not efficient at these cold temps. #onstorm

Instant Weather Ontario ❄️
#ONStorm #ONwx ⚠️ FREEZE RISK: Clean Up Slush and Melted Snow This Afternoon if You Can! Snowfall intensity is starting to ease across Southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe, and as that happens we’ve seen temperatures creep a few degrees above freezing. This warmup has allowed the precipitation to shift into a mix of wet snow and drizzle in several areas. That mix is leaving behind plenty of slushy, messy conditions on roads and sidewalks. If you get a chance over the next few hours, it’s a good idea to clear away as much of that slush as you can. Temperatures are expected to fall later this afternoon into the evening. We’ll go from the low single digits above freezing early this afternoon to around -3°C to -6°C by late evening. That drop likely won’t be sharp enough for a flash freeze warning from Environment Canada since it will happen gradually over several hours. However, it will still be enough to freeze and harden whatever is left behind. That can make cleanup much tougher later on. And with plenty more snow in the forecast for parts of the snowbelt region later this week, you’ll definitely want to save your energy where you can. If you’re out on the roads this evening, keep an eye out for black ice developing as temperatures dip below freezing. - Brennen
