Refs need to call stalling. Just do it. I think they don’t want to sway the result — but as the referee, you allowing it is impacting match outcomes more than you potentially giving a wrestler a point or two for it. Some guys aren’t even trying to wrestle.

The amendment to the rules literally only clarified that the offensive wrestlers head can be “buried” in that position and it’s still a TD — like, no shit. Head position impacts control in zero way here.

@JayySimp @BuckeyeT614 @RudisRowley No it wasn’t buddy. They added that this position was a takedown the next season buddy. They did add challenge bricks but also updated the takedown section in the NCAA referee rulebook for takedowns that this is now by the rules considered a takedown.

Continuing problem. These guys are not getting as many opportunities to see ranked opposition given how teams schedule. The Scuffle used to provide significant opportunities for SoCon teams to see Big 10 opponents

@rollblers @jeffmeyers8 Auburn is one of those “mediocre” teams (they are mid) — they played one of the toughest oocs in the nation. Swap four of those games for four Q4 games. Now they are 20-11 and easily making the tournament. That will be scheduling going forward.

He neglects to include the part of the match where Hendricks was flat on his back in a tight cradle, and which should have resulted in a fall for Churella. That’s why the very knowledgeable crowd was booing.
Maybe the worst non-call in NCAA finals history. IMO - will always be a stain on Gary Kessel, who is one of the great NJ high school officials of all time.

The two takedowns to win were amazing, but the post match was something I'll never forget experiencing in person. Can't remember I've ever cheered louder for a guy as every non-Cowboy booed him mercilessly and he just ate it up. 1 of 1.
