@shadowe_wolfe @TheCartoonLoon No its be responsible and don’t risk anyone’s life. People don’t get to go below a dam before flood release for no reason and then blame their death on everyone who didn’t want to participate in mass suicide for the possible exhilaration of saving themselves.

@JefeElJefe1 @TheCartoonLoon Another inaccurate reframing to justify picking the option that kills everyone else. It's "join us or die" as popular vote.

@LukeGromen I guess it just stops DXY from spiking as hard while reinforcing the status quo.

@LukeGromen Doesn’t this help push the DXY down which should make US manufacturing and US exports more competitive?

@dmm12345 @Marian_L_Tupy There are different forms of inflation. We have had simultaneous asset inflation driving price inflation superimposed on technology driven deflation in cost of goods. CPI ends up mildly positive while assets are much more inflated. Can’t easily compare net worth across times.

@dmm12345 @Marian_L_Tupy I’m not saying stocks will necessarily crash. As long as interest rates stay low, they can stay inflated in comparison to 1985. The broader point I am trying to make is that if everything is inflated people aren’t actually richer. Goods getting cheaper can simultaneously be true.

@dmm12345 @Marian_L_Tupy One might also use the Buffet indicator which compares stock market capitalization to to total GDP. By that indicator stocks are 3-4x more expensive than they were in 1985

@dmm12345 @Marian_L_Tupy CAPE is commonly used by investors, but mostly by a specific group: long-term, macro-oriented investors, not day-to-day traders. They use it to answer: “Is the market expensive relative to history?”

@dmm12345 @Marian_L_Tupy I have no specific fetish for dividends. But as a particular investor I admire says: “Fuck You Pay Me.” If a stock does not and never will pay its investors a dividend, it might as well be a meme coin.

@dmm12345 @Marian_L_Tupy I switched to dividends because I thought it would be simpler for you to understand. But CAPE is a much better measure of the value of what you are buying. By CAPE stocks are 3.9x more expensive today than they were in 1985. You pay 3.9x more for the same value.

@GoBlueMermaid @LetChaosRaine @robbys_toupee This is just classroom hours from the first 2 years of medical school. Then medical students get another 5000 hours of clinical experience on rotations. Then another 12000 to 28000 hours of clinical training during residency.
