@JeffersonShupe

I battle toxic polarization by revealing nuance and common ground, and wrote a YA novel showing how and why. Join the resistance. Also learning bass guitar.

If you watch one thing today, make it this. I’m so glad for this marvellous girl. But it was a close call, as she explains. “You’re just a Tomboy”

@NateForUtah To be fair, I don't see a connection to medical freedom or personal liberty. Only what things taxpayer dollars should go to. An important difference.

@LDS_Dems imo DOGE is the biggest thing that can bring down inflation long term.

There are people out there, good people of good will who voted for Trump because they genuinely thought he was going to bring down inflation... ...and I don't know whether to pity them or blame them for being so incredibly gullible.

@BridgeUSA_ Also, the loudest voices in politics likely don't precisely reflect your neighbors' views, even if they voted in that direction. It's worth looking beyond the bumper sticker, and talking with your neighbor to see what they really think.

@NateForUtah Okaaay...that was weird. You could make the case that you think the *results* of their policies might take us there. But what your right-leaning neighbors want isn't all that different from what you want, Nate.

Republicans saying Make America Great Again and what they mean is take our economy back to 1900 when the child laborers in the meat packing plant who had to work to add to their families’ meager wages ended up in your breakfast sausage.

@eli_wolk @Zaphod_2022a @Deseret I'm all for government as a last resort to prevent severe hunger. But the more we can put private people and charities in charge, the more effective we are and the less money we spend per meal. More volunteers and donations, less taxes and high salaries.

@LDS_Dems The representative caucus system is quite effective at taking the power of money away from elections, and increasing accountability. We should embrace it.

@stephlepp Affirmative action. I'm against the presmise that we treat each other differently for immutable characteristics. But zoom out historically and you can see a temporary case for it. How long "temporary" is seems to be the question.

@LDS_Dems 95%+ of Republicans want a Jan 6 cop beater to serve time. Also, overlooking violence from your own side isn't just a Republican thing.

So when do Republicans build a statue to honor the Jan 6 cop beaters? I mean, isn't honoring violent, insurrectionist losers kind of your thing?

@LDS_Dems I'm a conservative responding. I agree with this 100%. I want both of us out on the battlefield of ideas no matter who has the supermajority. We need to bring blind spots to light, be open to listening. We'll probably never be the same but that's ok. We need each other.

I have been thinking about what protest and resistance should look like in the Trump era and I think I have it figured out. We need to turn the tables on Right Wing Media and flood their channels with truth relentlessly. Here is what I mean

Republicans like to say they support "legal immigration" but it turns out, that is a lie. This woman was a legal immigrant. She followed the rules. She literally got in line. She did everything they asked. And they are all reveling in her pain.
