This is the most important point in our editorial. Why: A survivorship program should be a system of care that works in tandem with the patients cancer care plan. There is FAR too much evidence to support this prospective survivorship approach, it is inadequate for us to suggest that we 'wait until they finish treatment to look for/manage the manifestations of treatment", when these issues have been happening all along... Screening and assessment is only part of the equation, a program must provide the services and engage patients with the evidence-based interventions that can address the issues they face. As @JuliaStal1 and colleagues showed, a leading issues is lack of use of services. Connecting patients at the point of care for support is a system's level issue. Generating 'referrals' & sending patients off into the abyss may not adequately provide the connection to the services that patients need, providing co-located survivorship services should be a system-level priority. Survivorship, from start of care, with services integrated into the cancer care plan, provided at the time needs arise. THIS. IS. COMPREHENSIVE. CANCER. CARE. #survonc #survivorship

@DrN_CancerPCP @JAMANetworkOpen @JuliaStal1 @AmCollSurgeons @NicoleStoutPT "To truly serve the diverse population of people living with and beyond #cancer, survivorship programs must be woven into the fabric of all oncology institutions. We need a system-based approach" @CancerCareMASCC @NIH_NCCIH @Integrativeonc

I’m seeking your help in a study on myeloma patients treated with spinal braces. Few studies explore rehab for these patients. My interviews point to a need for exercise-based interventions. Healthcare professionals' views are crucial to identify implementation barriers.

Ovarian cancer survivors can manage their neuropathy symptoms via exercise! Excited to get our findings out there under the guidance of my amazing mentors Drs. Leah Ferrucci and Melinda Irwin! @mirwin_yale @YaleSPH @YaleCDE

Aerobic exercise improves chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) in women who were treated for ovarian cancer. Incorporating referral to exercise programs as a part of standard of oncology care is recommended. ja.ma/3qbBxxN @anlan_cao
