I'm not the first person to notice this. But amazing how much anti-Indian hate there is on this site, typified by claims they are somehow monopolizing the tech industry, discriminating against whites, etc. It's very similar to traditional anti-Semitic tropes, and is equally baseless. I've dealt extensively with Indians in academia, and some in tech (my parents are both tech industry veterans) and there is no real evidence to support these claims. They - like traditional anti-Semitism, are also based on a flawed zero-sum view of the economy that underlies a lot of ethno-nationalism and bigotry, as well as a lot of awful far-left ideology: reason.com/volokh/2026/04…

All the O-1 visa “founders” have been outing themselves for only contributing App Store slop. Bro, you’re not American and we don’t need you. If making you jump through one extra hoop by going home is too big of a burden, you don’t have what it takes to be American.

@beffjezos The time to do this was 50 years ago. None of the legal immigrants sounded the alarm about the massive amounts of Visa fraud and kickback schemes. 90% of Visas went to people making under $200k. This is not "top talent"

Hey pal, I was working up north in the seismic exploration sector in 1971. I lived in a camp, worked from Oct. to April, 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, and earned $1.92 an hour. Millennials wouldn’t have lasted a month up there.

Today I was supposed to be on my way to Türkiye for my wedding, to meet up with my family and have them finally meet my partner and husband. We had everything planned. We chose Turkiye since it's close to Iran and my partner and I could both go there and have our families meet each other. We were supposed to get married with our close family and a small group of friends on a boat on the Mediterranean Sea at sunset. Because of the war, all flights to and from Iran are cancelled and my family can’t leave Iran, so we had to call off the wedding. Instead, this is how my day looked like. I woke up to a reminder to call my grandma (I used to call her every Friday morning). I snoozed the reminder until next Friday, just like I have done for the past many years. I can’t call her like our tradition these days because there is no way to call home. All international calls to Iran are blocked, and the internet is fully shut down by the regime. I got to work and right as I opened my computer I received an email I had scheduled to send to myself 5 years ago: “Apply for citizenship.” This summer marks 11 years of being in the US and 5 years of being a green card holder. I am now eligible to file for citizenship, but it doesn’t matter because an executive order was signed a few months ago that banned all Iranians from applying for any visa or citizenship. At lunch I opened Twitter just to see what’s up in the world and saw the news that those who don’t have a green card now need to leave the US before they can get one. This means every one of my Iranian friends who are here on a visa now has to go back home (on which flight?) to get a green card??? As if it’s that easy? We all know getting back to the US for Iranians is a huge challenge (months and months of waiting for a visa, with a chance of never being able to come back). And this is just a normal Friday for an Iranian. These days, when people ask how I’m doing and how I’m handling everything, I just say: It’s okay, it’s okay. It will be okay some day. But the reality is: nothing is okay. I’m in constant pain. I haven’t seen my family and loved ones in years, I barely hear about their wellbeing, and I’m constantly worried about them. I’m just burying myself in work because that’s the only distraction that can save me from losing my mind. I’m not okay. None of us are okay. We are just barely holding it together…

If I had to go home to convert my O-1 genius visa into a greencard, it would completely derail my career. Not even worth applying at that point. The process for a greencard is 1 to 2 years. The O-1 lasts 2 to 3 years. Just say you don’t want high skill immigration

If I understand this correctly, this is a direct assault on the US talent supply pipeline. Getting a work permit after studies and then applying for a green card is how smart people enter this country. Most people who come to the US to study do so because they want to get a job here and stay. It is as if the current administration did not want talented people to come here.

@beffjezos Nobody cares. Millions of low skilled workers were imported to displace American talent and drive down wages. They all need to go back. Most of them shouldn’t come back. No more foreign workers until actual Americans have jobs.

Heartbreaking. This decision impacts highly skilled H-1B professionals and talented international students pursuing GC through the elite EB1 and EB2 pathways. It risks forcing gaps in employment during the prime of their careers, while they are contributing to research, healthcare, engineering, and innovation in the US.

This year’s H-1B season is wrapping up, and we’re seeing great results from @POTUS’ new policies that prioritize America First! Stay tuned for more updates, but here’s what we’re seeing so far: ✅More top talent: We’re approving more applicants with advanced degrees and higher salaries—especially those who studied at U.S. universities. An overwhelming 71.5% of selected aliens hold a U.S. master’s degree or higher, compared to 57% last year. ✅Stronger workforce: These skilled workers are making a real impact on our economy and we’re closing the door on the low-wage and low-skilled foreign labor pipeline approved under Biden administration policies. This year, only 17.7% of all selected registrations were in the lowest wage category. ✅Restoring integrity: The number of properly submitted registrations plummeted by 38.5%, from 343,981 in fiscal year 2026 to just 211,600 in fiscal year 2027. This data is a clear sign that the days of abusing the program with mass, low-wage registrations are over, and that the program is better serving its intended purpose of attracting highly skilled foreign workers and protecting the wages, working conditions, and job opportunities of American workers. More details coming soon!

The biggest bullshit move by DHS in its history. So everyone on a O1 or H1B visa would have to stop working legally in the US, go back to their country and wait for years of backlog? This includes top scientists in our universities, founders of billion dollar companies (at least 3 just in our portfolio would be affected by the way). And if we look at individual countries it becomes even more bs. Indians would have to wait decades. Russians don’t have anywhere to go (there is no US embassy in Russia, hello?). This is the worst imaginable way to disrupt important work for the country and pretend you’re fighting some loophole.

The 12 mg retatrutide dose delivered only 3.3% more absolute weight loss than tirzepatide 15 mg, but with roughly double the vomiting and almost triple the constipation. Plus dysesthesia, Urinary Tract Infections and higher heart rate. Tirzepatide is better for the majority @agingroy Agree?

Eli Lilly just released Phase 3 data for retatrutide, their next-generation obesity drug. 2,339 patients. 80 weeks. The biggest trial in the field. 8 things worth knowing: 1️⃣ It beats every obesity drug on the market. Wegovy (semaglutide): 15% Zepbound (tirzepatide): 22% Retatrutide: 25% 2️⃣ You don’t need the highest dose. The lowest (4mg) already outperforms Wegovy. 18% weight loss with one dose increase. Fewer people quit than on the sugar pill. 3️⃣ At two years, weight was still dropping. No plateau. Patients with BMI over 35 lost 84 pounds. 30% of their body weight. 4️⃣ Some patients stopped taking it because they lost too much weight. That’s never happened with an obesity drug. 5️⃣ It works differently. Ozempic and Zepbound suppress appetite. Retatrutide does that too, but its third receptor (glucagon) flips your metabolism toward burning stored fat. In Phase 2, ketone bodies rose 2-3x, confirming the body was switching fuel sources. 6️⃣ It causes a side effect no other obesity drug does: tingling and numbness (12.5%). New receptor, new trade-off. Worth watching. 7️⃣ In a separate study, it cleared 86% of liver fat. 93% of patients reached normal levels. 1 in 3 adults have fatty liver disease. No approved drug comes close. 8️⃣ Two-thirds of patients on the highest dose were reclassified out of obesity entirely. They started at BMI 40. They finished under 30. That’s not just weight loss. That’s a medical reclassification. @US_FDA filing expected late 2026.
Eric Topol@EricTopol

Retatrutide, a triple receptor drug for GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon, is the most powerful weight loss drug yet. A significant issue is too much weight loss among the trial participants. New randomized trial results announced today with 28% body weight loss. gift link nytimes.com/2026/05/21/sci…
