@JoJoFromJerz This is such a horrible take. Selective service is not new. It has always been required for males turning 18. Prior to this if someone didn’t register they would be committing a felony and ineligible for federal student loans as well as other federal programs.

This isn’t getting nearly enough attention. As the mom of a nearly 17 year old young man, this is something I think about daily.

Updated during peacetime in 1940 and continued through WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam war. Paused for a bit and reinstated in 1980. During that time all 18 year old males have been required to register.
