@JoeBrrrr2 @Morningstar2l @brndxix He has a point in that a sandwich being thrown at a cop is pretty pointless, especially seeing as it's a felony that will ruin the guy's life. If you're gonna do adventurism, at least do something bigger and funnier.

This is why I hate government in this country of all kinds, and am libertarian. Aren’t Republicans the party of Reagan, who prided themselves on less intrusiveness, smaller government, and more personal freedom? Now they just cannot help themselves from meddling in things that aren’t hurting anybody. Policians today insist on telling everybody what’s best for them. Meanwhile they’re the biggest creeps and criminals on the planet. And will do anything for bribes. Which is probably what’s fueling this whole thing like everything else. Just stay the fuck out of peoples lives, protect the country, don’t fuck up the economy, and let people live happy. It’s not rocket science

BREAKING: Supreme Court has been formally asked to overturn same-sex marriage ruling, per ABC. Kim Davis, the former Kentucky county clerk who was jailed for six days in 2015 after refusing to issue marriage licenses to a gay couple on religious grounds, is appealing a $100,000 jury verdict for emotional damages plus $260,000 for attorneys fees.

@steverigsl4 @JoeBrrrr2 @jackmac @DanteTheDon It sure doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy. With the incessant need to change the meanings of words. Isn’t it easier making a new word than just completely destroying the whole meaning of marriage maybe?

@JoeBrrrr2 @jackmac @DanteTheDon I think the issue with a lot of people is still what is marriage? Gay marriage doesn’t make sense as words put together. Marriage is its own specific thing. A gay marriage can’t be a marriage. It’s just that simple to a lot of folks.

@jackmac @DanteTheDon I just don’t get where the push to hear the case is coming from, waste of time especially if like you said overturning it wouldnt outlaw gay marriage so why even bother with it?

@jackmac @DanteTheDon “You then ask for it to be heard by the Supreme Court. Most of the time they just say you’re crazy no we aren’t wasting our time with this.” Just seems like a waste of time. Seems more likely they actually review it now than anytime recently

@jackmac @DanteTheDon Then why are they not saying that this time? If gay marriage will be legal either way sounds like a waste of my money as a taxpayer and doge should cut it

The republicans can’t just come together and say hey Supreme Court! Get rid of gay marriage! There are court cases throughout the country that continue to be raised through the court system specifically about constitutional law. You then ask for it to be heard by the Supreme Court. Most of the time they just say you’re crazy no we aren’t wasting our time with this.

Cry all you want about how ugly they are (I agree), but the fact is that it’s impossible to “Keep Austin Weird” if the weirdos can no longer afford to live there. Just ask San Francisco

On mass transit, housing, street redesign and being mayor/running a city. If the city is going to continue to move forward courage and leadership is important + not just accepting how things have been in the past + not always just listening to the loudest dissenting voices because they are….loud. Info below… Fact #1 - Weekday ridership for bus #87 along MLK Drive is nearly 10,000 (highest in the City) with on-time performance of 54%. The proposed rerouting with one way streets and dedicated bus lanes would increase efficiency, on-time performance, and quality of life for residents in the long term. If you care about mass transit and your constituent commutes this is a positive Fact #2 - if you care about complete streets and safe streets this is a positive. You can’t just send out press releases with “thoughts and prayers” but then hide when there are tangible opportunities for safe streets Fact #3 - if you care about the city affordability crisis then increase housing is importing and being able to handle the growth is linked to mass transit - this is an important change Fact #4 - if you care about better integration of the north/south parts of the city with downtown this is an important change
@3_under_scores_

Fulop has never mentioned Bergen Ave for bike/bus lanes or one-ways. SSJC suggested Bergen alternative. Rather than seeing it as an opportunity for compromise that moves everyone forward, Gilmore is trying to kill it by falsely associating it with Fulop. Cynical pandering.

BECAUSE THEY HAVE PREJUDICES TOO, genius. The entire gimmick of race-and-IQ pseudoscience is to market itself as this secret consensus that "everyone knows," which FEELS right to people who already have latent racial biases, which extends across the political spectrum.
Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry@pegobry_en

Let’s say that that’s true. (I don’t know.) It’s understandable why random frog avatars on the internet would believe otherwise. But why is it that (as you yourself have pointed out) so many influential centrist/center-left pundits also believe otherwise?

Just finished my walkthrough of Alligator Alcatraz. Here’s what I saw: The rhetoric coming from Democrats does not match the reality. The place is well run, safe, secure, clean and air conditioned. We reviewed the intake area, medical tent, mess hall, recreation areas and sleeping quarters. I actually laid down in one of the beds and it was really comfortable. So, any complaints about squalor conditions is nothing more than bullsh*t and political theater.
