It was humbling for me to attend the 2021 Alberta Police and Peace Officers’ Memorial Day on the grounds of the Alberta Legislature. Today, we reflect on the tragic loss of a distinguished fallen Calgary police officer, Sergeant Andrew Harnett.

On the 20th anniversary of 9/11 let us never forget the memory of the thousands of innocent men and women who perished and the loved ones they left behind. Today, as we mourn with our American neighbours, may we resolve to uphold our shared values of democracy, freedom and peace.

It was an honour to attend the offices of the Calgary Police Association this afternoon for the unveiling of the memorial for fallen @CalgaryPolice officers. Sgt. Andrew Harnett’s name was added to the list making him the 12th police officer to die in the line of duty in #yyc.

Ok, it's official. Today's bylaw approved by #yyccc, to repeal Calgary's mask bylaw, has been signed by the mayor. Masks are no longer required by the City in indoor public spaces in this city. Provincial govt rules for transit/taxis etc and health facilities remain in place.
