Rigathi Gachagua is not an option. #TukoKadi

We lost our mum earlier today after a long and bravely fought battle with illness. Our hearts are heavy, but we are grateful to God for the time, love, memories, and lessons she gave us. She fought with strength and grace, and we thank God for every moment we shared with her.

Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has deleted earlier posts he made on X, accusing the @USAmbUganda administration in Kampala of aiding Bobi Wine's escape. Gen @mkainerugaba, who is also President @KagutaMuseveni's son and a Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, said he "was being fed with wrong information. I have spoken with the US Ambassador to our country and everything is okay. We are going to continue our military cooperation as usual." bit.ly/3ZaY8sj #MonitorUpdates

Today, I called on the ODM leadership to urgently end the internal wrangles that threaten to tear apart the party that the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga sacrificed so much to build as a vehicle for national transformation. While addressing residents at the official opening of the Nambale Urban Primary and Junior Secondary School in Busia County, I noted that ODM can only truly honour Raila’s legacy by remaining united and rallying behind the broad-based government he helped to craft in the interest of national stability and cohesion. On the same occasion, I joined five Members of Parliament in supporting President H.E. Dr William Ruto’s directive allowing Grade 10 students to be admitted to school without the full set of requirements as the move offers critical relief to parents from poor and vulnerable backgrounds. I emphasised that the local administration must strictly enforce this directive by cracking down on parents who keep eligible learners at home to guarantee a 100 per cent transition. I also took strong exception to former Deputy President Hon Rigathi Gachagua’s call for national schools in the Central region to be reserved for local students, warning that such remarks promote tribalism and portray him as a leader driven by narrow, selfish political interests. I urged the Ministry of Education to ignore such divisive sentiments, stressing that national schools were built using taxpayers’ money and equipped with top facilities and teachers making them symbols of national unity and must admit students from all parts of the country. I continue to appeal to the Luhya community to unite behind President Ruto, noting that this remains the most strategic path to national leadership at the end of his second term, while urging residents in border areas to take advantage of relaxed national identity card regulations to acquire the documents and register as voters. facebook.com/share/p/1S2kny…
