@OCDaboutCars @modernheroestv Loved my 2008 Saab 93 diesel convertible that I bought for an NC500 challenge with the boys last summer. But my goodness the smells when sitting in traffic. Confirmed I wanted a convertible for the summer though, so MG Cyberster in 18 months or so it’ll be!

@jamiezerofour @JordanEVGuy So serious answer. The EV. Let’s say someone’s petrol bombed (no pun intended) the interior so the likelihood is irrelevant. I’d have a far longer escape time before anything major happens with the EV battery and thermal runaway etc vs the fuel tank on an ICE exploding or leaking

@JordanEVGuy Serious question. You live in a detached house and are sleeping with your wife next to you and kids in nearby rooms. Your car is parked right next to the house and catches fire. Would you prefer that the car were an EV or ICE?

@SimonCarGuy 100% agree. Although a little early to be taking them off imo. Some warm days currently but cold over night and the core road temps are still fairly low. Mine will be swapped next month some time.

Lots of questions asking why winters in UK:- 1. Spread tire wear 2. Will get % cost of 2nd set back come resale 3. Winters work significantly better than summer tyres below +8°C - plenty of info available online 4. They (or chains) are legal requirement in Alps during winter 1/2
Simon Lane@SimonCarGuy

Winters off. Summers on. Excellent service from @kwikfit St Albans (Hatfield Rd) who took 30 x mins and charged very reasonable £40 inc VAT for swap. Nice friendly team. Car has 25k miles but still has 5mm tread left on all 4 x original summer tyres.

@BenGrahamStocks What a load of tosh. £6.2k system paid off for me in 4.5 years, not paid for an energy bill since install as summer credit earnt from export see me through winter, and that’s with all electric heating and 15k miles a year of EV charging! 🤣 Yes clearly they don’t break even! 🤦🏻‍♂️

8 years ago @KateFantom ! Who says EVs loose value over time ? If these where available today I'd see these at around £4995 'retail' great city EVs , that we regularly drove from Leicestershire to Orkney

🚨 Ridiculous and Stupid idea from Labour The NHS is seeking to electrify up to 20,000 ambulances and other medical vehicles. Imagine the battery running out of an ambulance while you’re in the back needing urgent care that only the hospital can offer

@modernheroestv @jakebeldercars No motorways in East Anglia and I use it daily. It’s a lot better in some cars than others though, so luck of the draw as to what you’re driving it seems.

@jakebeldercars Lots of cars have adaptive cruise with assisted steering now, you’d be a bit crazy to use it anywhere apart from a motorway though 😳

I was stuck behind some sort of Kia EV for several miles earlier, and soon realised the driver was really only steering. Various bits of tech were doing everything else. The result was hugely inconsistent and unpredictable driving patterns. [1/3]

@MarkSoFla @Mileage_impo The 8 year / 100k for the traction battery is over and above. So year 5-8 the traction battery is still covered, providing it’s under 100k miles.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 with 666,255 km (414,000 miles) on the clock. The car hasn't had a ton of issues, but it did need a new battery pack at 579,363 km (360,000 miles). Hyundai replaced it for free.

@MarkSoFla @Mileage_impo Might not have been beyond warranty. In the UK Hyundai warranty is 5 years unlimited mileage. Might be the same in this location?

@KateFantom I genuinely think the whole ban ICE by X year isn’t even needed. The market can see the benefits. It’s taken time but growing month on month, word of mouth etc etc.

Many people say "hydrogen is the future, it's a fad, sales are down, nobody wants them, new batteries blah blah blah". The facts paint a very different picture. I always say "if you want to know what an EV is like to own and live with, ask an owner and ignore everything else". Happy clean air everyone 🫧🌬️
Department for Transport@transportgovuk

Electric car sales in the UK are up this month, making up 20.7% of new car sales, according to industry figures. This means nearly 30,000 new EVs on our roads as drivers are increasingly making the switch to electric – a 24% increase compared to sales in October 23.

@RealRusty @elonmusk @Tesla @KiaUK any reason my EV6 can’t be made to do this via HDA? Always wondered why if I ignore the commands to hold the steering wheel it’ll eventually turn off cruise control and let the car just carrier into anything in its way rather than bring to a controlled stop like this!

@s1m0nc @EVPuzzle What’s your actually generation from that system? Parents 7.4kwp south facing system with 6kw inverter was generating 9mwh annually. Would be surprised if yours is significantly less? What tariff are you on? I’d be aiming to export as much as possible at 15p and import at 7p OP.

Exporting solar really is helping justify all the extra solar I've been adding. We're doing well this year and I'm not even maximising it exporting for peak prices at peak times 🤔

@Ryanbybike @KateFantom I’ve never prevented someone charging when using 2 bays with my EV6. It’s a short term issue until longer leads are rolled out with V4. Could be worse. They could have just kept them for Tesla only and jacked up your charging prices to cover the money they’re making from others.

So the way you get roads resurfaced quickly in the UK is evidently to spill a load of diesel all over them. Potentially 10 miles of resurfacing done in something like 72 hours. Why can't it always be that quick? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@StuInNorway @au_tom_otive No they won’t claim against your neighbours insurance. Unless you can prove your neighbour has been negligent with their tree (ie knowing it’s defective / dead and failed to put this right) then their insurer will be paying you nothing 😂
