@Yorkshire_Tales @IPLENDY65 I remember standing behind the goal. If my memory is correct there was no 1st division games that weekend so the London press turned up for this game and while it wasn’t a vintage game it’s one of my standout away games.

West Ham 0 Leeds 1 Oct 1989. Think it was the first time we’d played them since we got relegated, and a typical Wilko team display which pissed the London press off. Looks like we had the whole end behind the goal but I’m sure I was down the side? #LUFC #80sLeeds #ALAW

A taxi driver who raped a teenage female passenger in a lay-by before leaving her in sub-zero temperatures has been jailed for six years and nine months. David Brown, 50, picked up the 18-year-old who had been on a night out in Inverness and was wanting to go back to her Highland village in December 2023. Instead Brown drove past her destination before pulling into the lay-by near a farm, somewhere between Strathpeffer and Dingwall, and sexually assaulting her. He then left her in Dingwall. —— What a disgrace of a man.

Met Police facial recognition cameras arrest 173 criminals in Croydon including a woman wanted for over 20 years Static live facial recognition cameras trialled on Croydon High Street between October 2025 and March 2026 led to 173 arrests across 24 operations. Offences included rape, kidnap, serious sexual assault, voyeurism and failing to appear in court. One woman, 36, was caught after evading justice for an assault since 2004 more than two decades on the run. Over 470,000 people walked past the cameras with just ONE false positive recorded. Crime in the area fell by more than 10% during the trial, including a 21% drop in violence against women and girls. The Met is now rolling out the technology permanently in Croydon, calling it a “powerful tool” for catching serious offenders quickly and safely.
