"They've accepted mediocrity too easily - it doesn't reflect well." Boos rang out at Anfield after Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea... Have Liverpool's players stopped playing for Arne Slot? @adrianjclarke

@RpsAgainstTrump Surely journalists have to ask Leavitt how did he stop 8 wars and be the sole inspiration for the one affecting the whole world right now. Also ask why would praise from Putin, sending arms to Iran, be worth announcing? How this is going un challenged is mind blowing!

Trump: “When I didn't get the Nobel Peace Prize. You gotta understand, I don't care. Norway has lost so credible. I stopped 8 wars… I do it the best. I stopped wars that nobody thought—President Putin called me, he said, 'I can't believe you stopped this one and this one.’”

This doesn't work. I don't think people research the fundamentals of these deals first. Chelsea currently pay (on average per player) a reported £25k less base per week per player than United, £35k less than Arsenal & £48k less than City. These are reported per week wages & years left: Noni - £50k - 6 years Gusto - 45k - 6 Lavia - 45k - 6 Sanchez - 60k - 6 Colwill - 100k - 5 Palmer - 130k - 9 Jackson - 100k - 9 All those could leave in January & get a higher base wage elsewhere, right? They're incentivised to prove themselves with very generous bonuses. So, the fact they could get a higher base wage elsewhere + if they play better football they earn more means that entire argument is flawed. #CFC

🗣️ Emmanuel Petit: “Chelsea players landing these long contracts have hit the jackpot. They have nothing to prove anymore. They can sit on these deals for nine years without having to earn a new one."

@footballontnt 🤣🤣 If you replaced Joe Cole with a wheelie bin, Ally McCoist with a whack wavy inflatable tube man and Darren Fletcher with a foot bath of anti foot and mouth solution you'd get a better view of what day it is. Never mind a football match

Per the White House press pool, U.S. Vice President JD Vance has now boarded Air Force Two and is departing Islamabad, Pakistan following unsuccessful talks between the U.S. and Iran on resolving the conflict in the Middle East.

@RpsAgainstTrump From a foreign country looking on it so laughable these guys are actually in charge and spewing this nonsense. Absolute laughing stock with no plan, no agenda but for telling lies and demeaning anyone who calls them out on it. How the US is allowing this to go on is mind blowing!

@cmwinterburn Dunno how there isn't a free out just given. You see yellow cards being giving to attacking team as ball not in play, but surely the advantage of a corner should be removed with what happens beforehand as it affects the next stage of play

I would be amazed if there wasn't a rule change at the end of the season with regards to corners in the Premier League. League will be concerned by the awful spectacle and it doesn't work in Europe either due to better refereeing.

@now_arsenaI A team who llost to United when facing a different challenge their initial pressure and looked to pick them apart successfully. Not long before other teams figure them out, if get to CL final ill be very impressed but up against a decent opp again they get torn apart as last year

🚨Well respected journalist Guillem Balague speaking on Arsenal… you’re going to want to read this! “Let me tell you what everyone is saying about Arsenal across Europe. “Arsenal are not seen here as a team that has stalled. They are seen as a reference point. As the team many look at when trying to understand where elite football is heading. “The game has shifted, it is no longer enough to dominate the ball or to attack well. The top sides now compete in, and often decide matches through, the four phases that make teams excellent: organised attack, attacking transition, defensive transition and structured defence. At the highest level, those phases matter more than possession percentages or aesthetic debates. “This is where Arsenal stand out. “Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal control space, time and another very important element, rhythm. They are aggressive without being chaotic, but can create chaos to find gaps, they are compact without being passive. Their pressing is prepared in detail, lose the ball and the reaction is immediate. The opponent is denied oxygen. “Across Europe, this is understood as modern dominance. “The key battleground today is transition. Not what you do with the ball, but what happens the instant you lose it. Defensive rhythm has overtaken offensive rhythm. Space is smaller and time is shorter. The teams that survive are the ones that arrive first, win duels, plus reset order before danger appears. “Arsenal do this as well as anyone. “In Europe, Arsenal are seen as a team that has absorbed Guardiola’s ideas and pushed them forward, they have strengthened them for a football world that now plays faster, presses harder, and it totally punishes hesitation. “At the very moment Arsenal are being questioned at home, they are being analysed as a model. “Progress is often uncomfortable and it rarely moves in straight lines. Arsenal don’t look lost. In my eyes they look early!”

@JonnyRM5 @Jon_Mackenzie The OOP style under Ruben it was a compact 5-4-1/4-4-2. When the opposition would take it out of the box we would would have a M2M press where the 2 10s and WBs all commit to the press caused turnovers and hit on counter or control possession. Last two games have just been vibes

Watching this Fletcher team makes it so clear how much out of possession theory has moved on in the last half decade. So many tactical decisions being made here that just feel out-dated esp. regarding rest defence.
