My Dad is a Boomer, he took two tins of sardines, a sleeve of saltines and hot sauce to his job as a carpenter for 40 years. My husband's Dad is Gen X, he took a can of soup to work every day making modular homes in a factory. My husband is a Millennial and eats turkey sandwiches or leftovers. Zoomers are so soft and entitled, I'm tired of them pretending like they're the first generation to have it hard.
loveyalotz@hanburbger

@IamR0galD0rn @DarkPit371 If I ate a turkey sandwich with kraft cheese every day I'd blow my own head off.

@moving_charlie We should replace SDLT with a US-style property tax, levied annually on the value of the property. This would encourage people not to hoard oversized properties… …but it will never happen, as an Englishman’s home is his castle, so levying tax on something you own won’t fly.

Imagine how many more home moves don't happen because of this. Selling the £1m home will already cost around £25,000 in selling fees, removal costs and solicitors, but at least that's going into the economy and helping to employ people. Many down-sizers would stomach the £25k, but not £40k

@MarkOfCaine @JulieLovesFluff The change in spending power doesn't change the density of the work, people work just as hard now as they did then. In fact it could be argued that people had it harder then, no computers, out side toilets, maybe running water dependent on location, maybe electricity, etc...

@JulieLovesFluff We arent working within the same. as I said previously we are all different situations. Because the American dream happened for you doesnt mean its the norm for everyone. Thats what we disagree on. My statement vs your statement implying I failed somewhere not the system failing.

My daughter was elected as a city councillor when she was 18, the youngest in the country at the time. (11 years ago) She worked her butt off beforehand (and afterwards) to ensure she knew all there is to know about how local government works. She was brilliant and did some important work. She knew all this backwards before she got in the chamber. This is outrageous incompetence. I wouldn’t dream of voting Reform, but this should give pause to anyone remotely considering it.
Parody Nigel Farage@Parody_PM

New Reform councillors off to a great start by refusing to vote on anything because they haven't a clue what anything means, how anything works or what the fuck they are doing. Vote Reform, get lazy, incompetent, ignorant morons.

Wonderfully clear ruling- that anyone is entitled to hold privately transphobic views, but to repeatedly misgender someone on the basis of those views is 'gratuitous, disrespectful and unnecessary', and did not advance the defense. A win for basic manners. 👏🏳️‍⚧️

@Matthew_G_Watts @NHS I don't think the NHS 'sends people out' without you knowing that they are coming. Especially not for normal results to come back. What are you not saying?

I'm not entirely sure that sending out an Advanced Nurse Practitioner to my home at 1.30am to discuss the results of a routine blood test is the best use of the @NHS budget. It's also incredibly insensitive and intrusive.

Actually very depressing because those people look like my mates' parents, my own grandparents when I was young, my teachers, my scoutmaster, my neighbours growing up and my neighbours now; they could be my mam. Something's gone badly wrong

Funny how some people are obsessed with policing who uses a change room, but barely say a word about the millions of men consuming violent misogynistic content online. If protecting women was really the priority, the focus would be domestic violence, sexual assault, coercive control, stalking, and the reality that women are overwhelmingly harmed by men they already know not by trans people existing in public spaces. Women’s safety isn’t improved by targeting a tiny minority for political outrage. It’s improved by confronting actual violence against women.

@SCHIZO_FREQ Why is it so much to ask that men simply be respectful and not waste women’s time? She clearly wants a serious relationship. He wasted her time and insulted her.

We’re in the “late stage capitalism” phase of dating game theory Famous athletes used to go and sleep with random groupie women no questions asked bc of the status differential But average women now realize that if a high-status guy ever hits on them, their best move is to make a huge deal about how “famous men want to have sex with me!!” and post it all over the internet for attention Guys see this and make a mental note that interacting with women appears to be reputationally hazardous. They do it less Women see that and write articles about “where have all the good men gone,” “why doesn’t approach me anymore”, “are you all GAY??” All of this can be fixed very easily by just policing these antisocial behaviors that pollute the commons

I'm sorry, Zara, but you have this the wrong way round. They are mocking the niqab because it has no place in civilised society or the UK. Nobody asked for it and the majority don't want to live in a society like this. It's medieval patriarchal misogynistic bullshit masquerading as some warped idea of emancipation when the opposite is the case. This is Starmer's island of strangers, where basic human civility on the street is made impossible towards the women made to walk around in sensory deprivation tents (not the men of course). I increasingly see this in Whitechapel. Many Muslim countries prohibit it, and some EU countries are wising up to it. Where is it coming from? Islamist indoctrination from the mosques and of course imported cultural values from newly arrived migrants. This is the kind of oppression brave women and girls fought the Iranian regime because of. This is the society which the Taliban installed in Afghanistan and plunged back into the dark ages. A little scholarship will teach you that this has nothing to do with God worship. It has everything to do with the oppression of women and girls. People are ready to vote for political parties and politicians prepared to confront this ideological cancer in our liberal democratic society. I for one do not want to live in an Islamist caliphate.

Tommy Robinson Unite the Kingdom. It was a matter of time before the Islamophobia would start. It’s sickening behaviour. As Muslims, we shouldn’t have to tolerate this in our home…… England.
