Jane Street just showed the inside of their AI training data center in Texas. 4,032 GPUs. 56 racks. 8,000 km of fiber. liquid cooling running through every server because air cooling can't handle the heat anymore. but the part that got me was the origin story. Ron Minsky, who co-heads their technology group. said their first compute cluster was literally six Dell boxes stacked on top of each other at the end of a desk row. they called it "the hive." the trading systems sat out in the room with the traders because they wanted to be able to unplug them if something went wrong. at one point, someone vacuuming the office unplugged a live trading system in the middle of the day. from six Dell boxes and a vacuum cleaner incident to a liquid-cooled GPU data center processing trades in under 100 nanoseconds. that's a 20-year arc.

@kevinxu Why would you buy an open ended fund with $140m in value for a $600m+ valuation? BOT doesn’t cashflow, it just tracks the underlying assets in the portfolio. What am I missing?

NEW INSIDER TRADE Another member of Congress just got caught buying the exact kind of stock their committee oversees. Representative Maria Salazar of Florida just filed a purchase of Marvell Technology $MRVL, one of the largest semiconductor and AI infrastructure companies in the country. Here’s the conflict: Salazar sits on the House Financial Services Committee and the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, the body that directly oversees the SEC and the rules that govern stock trading itself. So a Representative who helps write the rules for capital markets is also actively trading the stocks those rules apply to. A regular investor doing this with the same access would be in handcuffs. A member of Congress does it and files a one-page disclosure. In the future, ALL INSIDER TRADES will be posted on @InTheAssembly Follow them right now or you’ll regret it later.

Watching the @findingsatoshi_ documentary actually gave me closure with the mystery of who Satoshi is It seems, beyond reasonable doubt, that we have the best answer that we will ever have on the matter (And it’s not Adam back)

Finding Satoshi is the best crypto doc ever made. Approached the subject without bias and treated it for what it is: one of the great mysteries of modern times. Spoke with super informed people, and beautifully explained Bitcoin's history and the key concepts that make it work. I learned a ton I didn't already know, including about Len Sassaman, a fascinating character of history. I won't spoil it, but there's a chance one of the people involved is cryogenically frozen and comes back one day to see how it all played out. Worth the $18. Artfully done @WilliamCohan, @tydamar and everyone involved in @findingsatoshi_

I just watched a beautifully crafted documentary, Finding Satoshi. This is a masterful storytelling of the history of the Cypherpunk movement. It reminded me why I'm here in the first place. @findingsatoshi_

BREAKING🚨 New documentary “Finding Satoshi” prediction is that Hal Finney and Len Sassaman collaborated to create Bitcoin The creator of Bitcoin was never one person - two cypherpunks - two different skillsets one identity - both part of the cypherpunk movement - both worked around PGP encryption - both connected to Phil Zimmermann shared philosophy Hal Finney - software developer - expert in C++ - built RPOW (proof of work system before Bitcoin) - first person to ever receive a Bitcoin transaction Len Sassaman - cryptographer - expert in anonymity systems - ran cypherpunk mailing lists - specialized in writing and protocol design October 2008 - Bitcoin whitepaper drops January 2009 - first Bitcoin transaction - Satoshi sends BTC to Hal Finney public interaction or staged? April 18, 2009 - Hal Finney runs a 10-mile race photos exist timeline confirmed at the same time - Satoshi is sending emails - discussing technical details - actively working impossible for one person, someone else was there but timeline starts making sense 2009–2011 - Satoshi active - both Finney and Sassaman alive April 2011 - Satoshi disappears July 2011 - Len Sassaman dies 2014 - Hal Finney dies Satoshi never returns the theory - Finney wrote the code - Sassaman wrote the words - both shared the identity maybe Satoshi was one person maybe it was two but if it was a team this is the closest answer we’ve ever had

Who Satoshi is no longer matters for Bitcoin. That said, I agree this is the most thoughtful piece I’ve seen on the topic. It stands in contrast to prior self-indulgent exposés, approaching the topic with humility and kindness - qualities Satoshi and Bitcoin have earned.

Introducing USVC - a single basket of high-growth venture capital, for everyone. No accreditation required, SEC-registered, and a very low $500 minimum. Includes OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Sierra, Crusoe, Legora, and Vercel. As USVC adds more companies, investors will own a piece of that too. Liquidity typically comes when companies exit, but we’re aiming to let investors redeem up to 5% of the fund every quarter. This isn’t guaranteed, but if we can make it work, you won’t be locked up like in a traditional venture fund. It runs on AngelList, which already supports $125 billion of investor capital. And I’ve joined USVC as the Chairman of its Investment Committee. — Go back to the 1500s, you set sail for the new world to find tons of gold - that was adventure capital. Early-stage technology is the modern version. It says we are going to create something new, and it’s risky. It’s daring. But ordinary people can’t invest until it’s old, until it’s no longer interesting, until everybody has access to it. By the time a stock IPOs, most of the alpha is gone. The adventure is gone. Public market investors are literally last in line. This problem has become farcical in the last decade. Startups are reaching trillion dollar valuations in the private markets while ordinary investors have their noses up to the glass, wondering when they’ll be let in. Investing in private markets isn’t easy. You need feet on the ground. You need judgment built over years. Most people don’t have the patience to wait ten or twenty years for an investment to come to fruition. But there is no more productive, harder-working way to deploy a dollar than in true venture capital. USVC enables you to invest in venture capital in a broad, accessible, professionally-managed way, through a single basket of innovation, focused on high-growth startups, at all stages. It is how you bet on the future of tech: the smartest young people in the world, working insane hours, leveraged to the max, with code, hardware, capital, media, and community. Your dollar doesn’t work harder anywhere. There is an old line - in the future, either you are telling a computer what to do, or a computer is telling you what to do. You don’t want to be on the wrong side of that transaction. USVC lets you buy the future, but you buy it now. Then you wait, and if you are right, you get paid. Get access here: usvc.com

There are no accreditation requirements and anyone can get started with as little as $500. Early portfolio includes xAI, Anthropic, OpenAI, Sierra, Vercel, Crusoe, and Legora. The new Finding Satoshi documentary is extremely good and worth watching. It's the only approach I've seen that took it seriously, interviewed a wide range of people, used actual investigators, and also looked into evidence that contradicted their hypotheses. 1/2
