Ten Days ago, the 2026 @MLB season kicked off. Today, we remember what happened ten days after September 11th, 2001, when the @Mets stepped back onto the field. Americans were still grieving but still standing. When @mikepiazza31's bat connected that night at Shea Stadium, an entire nation exhaled for the first time. This swing gave the Mets a 3-2 lead and provided a grieving nation with a much-needed sense of hope and unity. Thank you, @MLB, for recording and sharing historic moments like this so future generations can witness how sports can bring us all together.

Honoring Master Sergeant Max J. Beilke, the last American combat soldier to leave Saigon in 1973. After 15 years of dedicated advocacy for veterans and their families, he tragically lost his life at the Pentagon on September 11th. We join the @DeptofWar in remembering his incredible legacy of service. Learn more at pentagonmemorial.org

National Medal of Honor Day is a reminder of what service and sacrifice truly mean. At the Pentagon Memorial, that responsibility drives our mission: to remember the 184 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to educate future generations so their legacy endures.

We are grateful to the @TAPSorg for their unwavering commitment to supporting Gold Star families. Last week’s gala was a powerful reminder of the strength and community that surrounds those who have lost loved ones in service to our country, including the families of those we honor at the Pentagon Memorial. Through their compassion and dedication, TAPS ensures these families are never alone. We are proud to stand with them in remembrance. We will never forget.

We are grateful to @BillDeSteph for generously donating a flag that flew above the Virginia State Capitol to the Pentagon Memorial Foundation. Senator DeSteph has been a strong ally in our mission to honor and remember the lives lost at the Pentagon on September 11. This meaningful gesture serves as a powerful symbol of remembrance and respect for those we will never forget.

A special thank you to @MaxJMarcilla from the @DCNewsNow / @TheHill reporting team for covering progress on the Pentagon Memorial Visitor Education Center.
