@mlycan12 Is it much different than before the transfer portal? Managing red shirts, medical, etc? I like the fact we won’t be seeing late 20s adults playing college sports.

So the same folks that are limiting how many players we can recruit are now telling us we have to manage recruiting 5 years worth of eligibility within 4 years of classes while predicting everyone’s future and staying within the roster cap. This makes my head hurt. #FromBadToWorse #WhatIsGoingOn #BringCommonSenseBack #https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/article/ncaa-proposing-major-changes-to-eligibility-rules-including-age-limits-121509806.html

@TweetsbyCoachP You get injured in high school … you miss a year … no one crying and threatening lawsuits (though I am guessing there probably is)

@AthleteDefender It’s a start … better than what we have now. Enough of the these mid to late 20s “college” kids. Have some sort of appeal in place that won’t be abused

No waivers is a terrible idea. There is no one size fits all in life. People get sick, people have family circumstances, and extraordinary circumstances can arise. What if a student-athlete gets cancer while in school? No waiver for him or her? These extremes are ridiculous.
Ross Dellenger@RossDellenger

The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation. No redshirts or waivers. bit.ly/3POqo2D

@ParisBaguetteUS I don’t see the new AZ location in your feedback area in the app. My only issue is the amount of filling … Nutella, chocolate, cream cheese … all had a small amount. Someone getting a Nutella croissant I am guessing doesn’t just want a hint of Nutella

@IHateSoccerPod This is Peoria, AZ … should answer your question for at least around here. Actually leasing a building has to have a ton of other costs. Maintenance, additional insurance, taxes, etc

Oh, you don’t want to do this? Why? Directors won’t take a pay cut? Stop wasting money on rentals of $500-$1000/hour. Needing 11v11 field is a lie. Needing to be able to play games there is a lie. Needing to buy the land is a lie. Needing to build from scratch is a lie.

How many buildings are for sale or lease that look like this in your “soccer clubs” backyard?

@IHateSoccerPod @Don_K_Williams I remember how excited I was getting attention and offers and I realize it’s completely different world but man … thinking it’s that far disrespectful that you will stop recruiting is crazy

@Don_K_Williams It’s so different from other sports because that’s the absolute norm. My nephew was a 3 Star Tight End in football and they were encouraged to do this by not only high school coaches, but the college coaches. Soccer folks can be so sensitive.

@JacobBrownDOC The last sentence is certainly not true … I know plenty of clubs would immediately jump from Dpl/national league/aspire to ecnl rl if they were just accepting everyone that applies.

@CKC_2004 @MatthewAmburge2 Is there any evidence or studies that show that? I threw the question into chat gpt and asked for studies and it seems to show the opposite

I’ll die on this hill. JUST BECAUSE YOU PLAYED A SPORT AT A HIGH LEVEL DOESN’T MEAN YOU CAN COACH IT! Argue with a spoon!

@MatthewAmburge2 Would be interesting to see if you take the most successful coaches in the past decade for various sports and see what the highest level they achieved … I bet there would be more that played at college or higher level

@__Irreversible @ravenousreader I would agree with her 100% if the kid doesn’t want it. I fully understand that some of these parents don’t have conversations with their kids or try to push them into things they don’t want. Just think there is a laundry list of worse parenting.

@JoshSnyderPhoto @ravenousreader Mind you, NO one is saying your examples or what you're saying is wrong. Or rather I'm not anyway. I'm only trying to convey that this "one upping" you're tryna pull, is stupid. Because as I mentioned previously, there's many others with the stories she gave. Just like yours.

lol. When I showed up for the first day of cross country practice a the D1 school where I earned an athletic scholarship, my shoes were so worn (probably 2 years old or so) that the coach took me to the equipment room and gave me a pair of new shoes. My parents couldn’t buy me shoes let alone afford for me to go to the national competitions I qualified for. Stop this behavior. It’s so incredibly unhealthy and irresponsible. Save this money for your children if you have it. Develope their minds and souls this hard.
Anthony Bradley@drantbradley

They spend $16K on their son’s travel baseball career. The kid has a nutritionist. Parents are spending $16k a year on travel baseball and calling it ‘opportunity.’ It’s not opportunity. It’s parental foolishness & idolatry dressed up as ambition & success. #WormwoodFTW

@__Irreversible @ravenousreader I was responding to her statement about this being wrong and unhealthy for anyone to spend that $$$ on something their kid loves (I have friends who spend more than that on dance and another that pays big $$ for theater/acting). Not trying to one up anyone. She is just wrong.

@JoshSnyderPhoto @ravenousreader There’s a ton of research about the impact of intense competition on children. You usually only hear about the cherry picked ones that support it. But the more frequent results are that it’s extremely damaging to their self esteem and results in poor personal relationships.
