Did you just call out Arweave and then suggest a different "forever" storage provider that offers the same thing but inside of an IPFS candy wrapper? "permanent storage" is not a real thing. No amount of "endowment pools" or "economic models" will save you. If your storage provider sells NFTs of their mascot, runs their gateway on AWS, and offers lifetime plans, you should start looking for a new storage provider.

@LuisBetx9 @foundation Buena pregunta... los archivos entran en un periodo de riesgo gradual. IPFS es acumulación de nodos. Por tanto, la información queda en los otros nodos. Se pueden usar varios servicios para este objetivo. 4EVERLAND, Lighthouse, Web3.Storage, o cualquier alternativa.

I work for an L1 and it’s pretty crazy how clear it is that all tech leads transacted onchain maybe 5 times in their life.

1/ Online marketplaces have made it possible for anyone to become a seller. In minutes, a new storefront can appear, listing products and accepting payments from customers around the world. But as e-commerce scales, a critical question is becoming harder to answer: Who is actually behind the seller account? Here’s what’s happening 👇

@Parafinas1 @foundation If you were a car or physical art collector - would you rely on the dealership or gallery to continue paying your bills after taking delivery? Why is this any different?

@NyanCatSales If someone bought and now owns an asset, isn’t it their responsibility to maintain that asset? Car and art collectors pay their own bills. Why would an NFT be any different?

Foundation is the most disappointing platform I've ever used in Web3. I joined when they had about 300 followers, and minting my artwork there brought them massive press. From there I gave suggestions that improved the site, and personally onboarded about 20 classic meme creators there, generating $2.8m in sales, handing Foundation about $420,000 in platform fees (15% at the time). Their thanks? The founder told me on a phone call that if you're not actively minting there then they aren't going to showcase you. They stopped talking about my artwork in December 2021, then later used my artwork (this specific artwork was *not* minted on their platforms) in an unauthorized commercial. I since then moved to using custom contracts, to stop being exploited by greedy platform gatekeeper behavior. Now Foundation is dying, and they have the nerve to ask the artists they've milked for years to pay $20/month to pin their own artwork which stays on their contract. I refuse to keep my art on a platform that spent years squandering creator goodwill. To my 1/1 collectors (the 6 or 7 of you, this does not apply to any of my main collections), if you ever have issues viewing your pieces please contact me directly (@PRguitarman ) and I can set up a free burn redeem so your artwork can live on a new custom contract where it belongs. It is a frustrating thing to realize, but on the bright side your owned artwork will be free, no longer muddled in a pile of 111,000 other artworks on a dead contract, controlled by a dead platform that gave up on every artist there.

@asherhoffman_ They ran a business that facilitated sales of NFTs. Users that sold artwork got paid. Beyond that, they don’t owe anything to anyone. You may not like how a business operates, but that doesn’t mean they owe you something.

@JoshuaNoble_ They owe it to the artists and collectors they’ve made money off of. Acting in good faith should be worth more than a final check. They’ve made millions. It’s not like they were running a non profit

Foundation won’t let anyone just take it because the people who created it don’t actually care about artists They care about money and want to be paid

@steviepxyz @opensea OpenSea actually did pin a lot of of content to IPFS. Storacha is about to remove ~250 TB of it: github.com/storacha/legac… Context: @storacha/an-update-on-storacha-and-important-news-for-you-and-your-data-15a5d10b7da0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@storacha/an-u… A lot of content is about to go offline. I predict there may be some rough times ahead for NFT collectors. cc: @opensea

IPFS hot take #2: @opensea should just pin everything because it's in their financial interest to do so

crypto art the market is sh*t. still plenty of noise, grifters, and people playing main character. and yet, a small group, maybe 100/200 of us, keeps building platforms, working on decentralized systems, making better work, and collecting through it all. something here keeps us locked in. however long it takes, we’ll figure it out.

@frankNFT_eth That’s what happens when you pin your IPFS content with a storage provider that runs on AWS and Cloudflare. @Filebase has been 100% bare metal since day one for a reason. It’s time to stop paying the cloud tax.

Foundation made millions in 2021 and 2022, and now can't afford to pay their IPFS bill anymore, disgusting behaviour. But as one on the Founding members of DAOThe50 i am not Surprised. Foundations was never about art or artists, it was about making money for Kayvon and his crew.

Since we're all talking about IPFS, here's my hot take: Pinata is a rip off, and Arweave is probably snake oil. Personally, I'm a fan of lighthouse where $20 (1 month of Pinata) gets you 5gb of filecoin storage (which is about as "forever" and snakeoily as Arweave, but on IPFS)

Hosting on IPFS used to mean juggling CIDs, keys, & gateways just to keep a URL stable Filebase Sites fixes that ↓ ✅ IPNS address never changes ✅ Custom domains + SSL ✅ Deploy updates in seconds Decentralized by architecture. Simple by workflow. 👉 filebase.com/sites

It looks like @storachanetwork is shutting down its IPFS service and giving customers very little time to react They even shortened their termination notice period down to 30 days: github.com/storacha/docs/… Apparently, marketing hot sauce did not generate the returns they hoped it would. If you need a new home for your IPFS data, @Filebase is your best option. We've been operating since 2019, running one of the fastest and most reliable IPFS platforms - built entirely on bare metal. No hyperscalers. No third-party CDNs. Just performance, control, and predictable costs. Don't take my word for it - try it yourself. Our free tier is ready when you are. @storacha/an-update-on-storacha-and-important-news-for-you-and-your-data-15a5d10b7da0" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">medium.com/@storacha/an-u…
