@wheretheball97 @neeratanden @PodSaveAmerica You can masturbate all you want to your fantasies but you know we would not be involved in a war in Iran right now if Kamala was elected. But it is a lot cooler to just be against everything.

@RedDirtSport Also lets say 50% of the higher education white collar folks start trying to get into the trades. You think with all the extra labor in the market that those jobs won't start paying less?

Its a top down economic problem. Telling kids just go to tradeschool isnt going to bring the prices of goods or houses down.

Who hires tradesman if there is no middle class because AI takes those jobs? Now consider how can anyone afford anything at all at that point? It may have been good advice in 2010. It wont be in 2035. Outdated take.
Bitcoin Teddy@Bitcoin_Teddy

Mike Rowe: “We’ve been telling kids for 15 years to learn to code.” “Well, AI is coming for the coders.” “It’s not coming for the welders, the plumbers, the steamfitters, the pipefitters, the HVAC, or the electricians.” “In Aspen, I sat and listened to Larry Fink say we need 500,000 electricians in the next couple of years—not hyperbole.” “The BlueForge Alliance, who oversees our maritime industrial base—that’s 15,000 individual companies who are collectively charged with building and delivering nuclear-powered subs to the Navy … calls and says, we’re having a hell of a time finding tradespeople. Can you help?” “I said, I don’t know, man … how many do you need? He says, 140,000.” “These are our submarines. Things go hypersonic, a little sideways with China, Taiwan, our aircraft carriers are no longer the point of the spear. They’re vulnerable.” “Our submarines matter, and these guys have a pinch point because they can’t find welders and electricians to get them built.” “The automotive industry needs 80,000 collision repair and technicians.” “Energy, I don’t even know what the number is, I hear 300,000, I hear 500,000.” “There is a clear and present freakout going on right now. I’ve heard from six governors in the last six months. I’ve heard from the heads of major companies.”

Golden is a generational banger that happens to be a lode-bearing song for one of the most popular films of the 21st century and you know Diane Warren is still gonna be FURIOUS when she loses to it.

@mehdirhasan It would make it almost funnier if he was since his mother was an immigrant. So the son of two immigrants who marries immigrants has Putin the biggest crusade against immigrants in our history.

@FiniusMcTbag FYI, air travel is so bad in China they need to use trains. Here air travel is so cheap and convenient it's the better alternative vs thousands of miles of continuous maintenance required on easily damaged or sabotaged lines of steel.

@bomani_jones Pocket watching on this is dumb but selfishly I work 10 hours most days and have ear buds in for most of it. That and my vehicle are where I get to enjoy 99% of music now. I really don't have a place to listen to this album outside of that which really sucks.

@jaycedowell @bradluttrell Yeah that would be my preference I will gladly pay for the music just not on physical media where I don't have a way to listen to it 90% of the places I mostly listen to music.

I guess it’s the capitalist in me but I think Sturgill Simpson can release an album however he feels best. The market will let him know if that model was interesting or not. He will have to decide if it was economically viable. But my gut says the profit metrics yall are trying to discuss aren’t the metrics Stu cares about. If he cared only about that, he’d have made meta modern 5 times in a row and cleared $80M+ (his words, I’m paraphrasing from memory from a Joe Rogan interview). But he didn’t.

@MikeMitchNH Don't get me wrong housing turning into an asset instead of a home has caused a crazy affordability crisis in metropolitan areas. But peoples fomo on top of comfort with massive debt makes it easy to get in a hole and impossible to get out.

I flew on an airplane for the first time when I was 19, and my parents had steady middle class income my whole childhood. Grew up in a 2 br/1 ba cape. You're not in debt because you're lower middle class. You're in debt because you refuse to spend like you're lower middle class.
J Bird@JustinDel

@MikeMitchNH I have this argument with folks constantly. Yeah your grandparents could buy a house on one income, but they had one car , 5 outfits for school, a 1300 sq ft home for 4 kids sharing bedrooms. Cooking for EVERY meal and that means from scratch not chips, frozen meals and such.

This has long been my most right-coded take. It's not that hard for non-rich people to save money and avoid non-mortgage debt on a half-decent salary if you can trick yourself into living like it's 1995.

@bomani_jones sitting here youtubing Sturgill songs and started wondering if you have a ranking of his songs. I remember on your pod one year you saying All Around You would have been your most listened to song that year but was curious which are some of your other favorites.

@BudElliott3 The league is deep, just hard to really know the scope. I think if Texas was in over Bama this field would have been more interesting. (Not that I think they deserved to get in the record is their record).

@BudElliott3 Texas was the 6th best team in that conference. Which this is a product of the super conference set up, if TAM, Ole Miss and Bama all played each other the extra losses would have sorted this out.

It’s extremely deep, but there’s a reason a lot of the power ratings didn’t think that any of the top four or five teams were from the SEC SEC certainly is not bad. It’s just, who are the SEC teams pairing a legitimate top of the NFL draft QB with one of those super rosters?
outraged_Phillies_Fan#2@BlaiseKood51790

@BudElliott3 Genuinely how bad is the SEC this year?

@UnionDrip UPS has eliminated close to 50,000 jobs including 2000 drivers. And they're still offering driver buyouts going into 2026. That last Teamsters contract was too rich and UPS warned the Teamsters this would happen.
