The vast majority of female murder victims in this country are killed in their own home, by someone known to them, with a history of violence. Those campaigning to "protect our women" should reflect on those chilling facts.

capitalists: if you work hard you will become rich coffee shop waitress: works hard capitalists: no not like that
Lord Balthazar MBE@LordBalthazar85

@THemingford Coffee shop waitress isn’t a job you do when you want to pay a mortgage and have kids. It’s a summer job for young kids. If you want to make it “cover the cost of living” then coffee (and everything else especially food) gets more expensive as with every minimum wage increase.

@KurtSchlichter "Official Board of Genocide Scholaring"? I suppose you meant the International Association of Genocide Scholars. You don't even know the name of the organisation you claim to be "certified" by.

No, I am a certified, licensed genocide scholar by the Official Board of Genocide Scholaring and my view requires your deference and acceptance.

In 1982 Margaret Thatcher cutoff weapons to Israel because they invaded Lebanon. Today Israel are invading Lebanon and instead of banning weapons to Israel they are trying to ban Palestine marches.

To make the jump from a mentally ill man attacking 3 people, two Jews and a Muslim, to saying peaceful Pro-Palestinian marches must be banned as a consequence, is totally irrational, bizarre and downright Orwellian. This lunacy from our politicians must be challenged.

@CrowtherSi @OwenPaintbrush Nothing stopping the business owner to do all the work his employees usually perform, right? Do you realise how dumb your comment is?

@OwenPaintbrush I agree. UC should be scraped for working people. Nothing stopping his staff from leaving and setting in business themselves. They can then pay themseves whatever they want Why don't they? Is it because its much easier to whine than act ?

Self-confessed millionaire Peter doesn't want to pay his employees enough money to live on. He'd rather pay them poverty wages so they have to rely on in-work benefits funded by the taxpayer. That way, he gets to keep his millions and the rest of us continue to get ripped off.

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

@NancyWindsorUK @RobbieScowlz @PeterMcCormack Was just thinking this. I worked in lots of bars cafes & restaurants as a teenager no pension, no NI, no contract just work I was paid a fair price for at the time (£4.50 per hour) I never once felt I needed ‘rights’.

Ta ucieczka @donaldtusk przed odpowiedzialnością, te opowieści w Sejmie o "bezpartyjności" – to jest niepoważne. Jest Pan premierem. Przeforsował Pan budżet, w którym brak 23 mld na NFZ. To oznacza praktyczną prywatyzację ochrony zdrowia. I to Pan ponosi za nią odpowiedzialność
