Earlier today I spoke to Josh Gottheimer, the rare Democrat who supports attacking Iran and who is open to (maybe) voting for an AUMF depending on circumstances. There was some spirited disagreement !

@ryangrim Consider me debased. I find the Piker discourse tedious. Not sure why we care all that much about him in the first place. He’s trite. Also, what happened to Destiny? Still a thing? They should get back to sparring and let us be.

As much as I've enjoyed this discourse, gonna have to mute this person. When you arrive at Terminal E at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, the line outside looks fairly manageable. But in reality, it starts in the basement, goes up a floor and zigzags through baggage check, then runs outside before snaking around the check in counters.

The best thing we can do for our kids right now is to just let them be kids.
Kids are getting cell phones sooner than any generation before them, screen times are up while real human connection is down, and foundational skills aren’t being taught enough these days. We need to take a step back.
It’s why I just signed a bipartisan bill into law, requiring cursive handwriting to once again be taught in PA public schools. It’s also why I’ve called on the legislature to pass a bill requiring schools to both implement a bell-to-bell cell phone ban and guarantee recess for every Pennsylvania student.
Let’s continue our work to set young people on a path to success — and let our kids be kids.

@jaredpolis I hope you have better legal advisors than whoever got you thinking like this. Disparities matter where all things are equal. And they never are. If you wanna commute, fine. The sentence might be too long. But don’t balance 2 cases; no 2 cases or defendants are ever the same.

Last week, former State Senator Sonya Jaquez Lewis was sentenced to probation and community service after being convicted of four felonies including Attempt to Influence a Public Official. She made a horrible mistake, and she was wrong. I hope she learns from this and can rebuild her life. As someone who has known Sonya as a friend for many years, on a personal level I was glad to hear she isn’t going to prison which is a hard place for anyone, no less a retired 68-year old pharmacist. But it is not lost on me that she was convicted of the exact same felony charge as Tina Peters — attempting to influence a public official — and yet Tina Peters, as a non-violent first time offender got a nine year sentence. Justice in Colorado and America needs to be applied evenly, you never know when you might need to depend on the rule of law. This is the context I am using as I consider cases like this that have sentencing disparities, which is why I have extended the deadline for clemency applications until April 3rd. I will be making decisions on these cases throughout the remainder of my governorship.

@RadioFreeTom Are you kidding? The Cold War was absolutely formative for Gen X. Gen X’ers were 11 to 26 years old when it ended. I remember sobbing at 9 learning that everyone could die in a nuclear war.
