@agronomistryan1 @mopaksus I actually did that when they first started making hoses here. Came in a couple days later and manager said I would be banned from the store if I ever touched the hose machine again. Told him to train his people and then advertise the service. I needed it, & paid full price.

@mopaksus Be glad he could actually make the hose. All the Oreillys around here advertise that they make hoses. But somehow the one person that actually knows how to make hoses is never there. At which point I’m usually like….. can I go in the back and make the hose?

@farmerjim13 Split rows blew like hell last week. It was like planting on the moon surface tonight. 80 mph winds move 3 years worth of residue. Little bit of wheat stubble left, corn, innnerseeded grazed rye, soybeans, and this is what’s left. It’s the barest this land has been since 2000

@farmerjim13 But if you plant at a small angle you can look cool and knock half the residue down. Greatly important to maximize wind erosion! Splitting rows is such a no brainer for me, especially when you can save ab lines and run em every year.

@ndcorngrower 17 lbs per 100 gallons. Says it right on the bag. 1.7 at 10 gpa, 3.4 at 20. Not that hard.

If you are a sales agronimist making herbicide tank mix recs to farmers, that use AMS for fuck sake quit saying "quart per 100 gallons" or "2.5# per 100 gallons" ask the spray rate 10gpa, and give recs in units per acre.

Headlines like this will turn the general public opinion against storm chasing and thus will make storm chasing easier to regulate.

@oldscarf1stweek @2472742c What really sucks is that a lot of these “chasers” are locals that have: -never taken a storm spotters class -barely know their own local roads -do not know storm behavior Like a significant portion of traffic is people who live within a 60 mile radius

@AdamLucioWX Get a grip on rural America. 900 People live in blue rapids. Pop increased by 25% by chasers. Heavy traffic for view chasers. These people volunteer time and effort to keep their community safe. They don’t care about chasers, they care about Aunt Edna’s cousin. Not you.

If this is the sole reason for the closure, which in the words of the fire department representative I spoke to is apparently the sole reason for the closure as determined by the guy on scene, then I argue the fire department created their own traffic hazard by creating a mile long back up, clogging the streets, and now Police Chief Woodyard is trying to pass the blame on all the chasers for the roads being blocked and not moving. Classic manipulation tactic: “my friends might have made a poor call (not a bad call, just a little bit of a poor call), now let me distract from it and tell people how it’s 110% someone else’s fault. Convoy line would have cleared town in a few minutes had this been not closed. That’s the truth many of the closed minded people don’t want to analyze.
Connor Croff@ChasingWConnor

This is the stick that prompted a main highway to be closed. 99.9% of the time if any emergency management personnel closes a road, I respect them and listen. In this case, I slowly went around them endangering nobody, impeding nobody, and obstructing nothing. I should've just stopped and dragged the stick off the road myself to open the road back up. It would have taken me a minute and that is with a torn ACL. I respect all law enforcement and emergency management personnel, but in this case I endangered nobody by slowing driving around on a road that should have never been closed.

Almost made a huge mistake on Monday. Creek flooded this mud/gravel road, and just as we got to it, our storm went tornado warned. Made the smart decision of turning around and backtracking several miles, effectively ending our chase. My fiancee was on the stream sending me threats if I tried to cross. She knows best!

@J_master_caster @whoeffincarez @ChasingWConnor Exactly. The first responders that are there know the majority of the population. They are there to help a small community. Road might be closed for another reason not tornado related. Car crash, fire, medical emergency. Have some respect and don’t be a douche.

@whoeffincarez @ChasingWConnor I mean the population of Blue Rapids is only 928 people with limited EMA and police so it’s not like there’s a lot of people to go through 😂

I just watched the Discovery Channels new Storm chaser series involving the Gary Tornado and while I’m appreciative of having a new tornado series, I’m curious on why the Discovery Channel chose to show several chasers almost getting in car crashes due to wild driving behavior.

@dubsinfive Yes and in our county we had a road closure cause a lineman was hurt fixing damage from storms from the previous night. Major ems code red. 2 lane blacktop shut down to one lane. Groups of chasers blew through when locals waited for a clear lane. This was before any storms.

@chickenbox390 @wxsarahk The little communities around our area don’t have a full time staff ems people. It’s all volunteers and towns of less than 1000 people. The county seat has a full time fire/EMS staff, but little towns are always 15 min away.

@wxsarahk It’s crazy nobody volunteer‘s for EMS in those areas. Prevents this issue immediately, and helps you relay local information even faster. Some chaser will start and I bet others follow.

Going to take this a step further…your behavior towards emer. personnel affects how ALL of us are treated and perceived by them. Yes, LEOs and responders should hold themselves to a higher standard of behavior, BUT SO SHOULD WE AS CHASERS. Our #1 rule should be “do no harm” — to each other, to other motorists, and to the communities we pass through.
Corey Gerken@CoreyGerkenWX

How you portray yourself out here reflects how emergency personnel and locals treat you when things are heated. Stay professional and respectful and you will be treated the same in return. I've never been cussed out by locals and I've been allowed to go through most weather related roadblocks with no issue at all. Every encounter is always positive no matter how bad the situation is.

@wxsteven @erikfox2000 @ChasingWConnor If there were that many well informed chasers, shouldn’t they be relaying info to dispatch because they are there for science, help, and research? That info would spread to first responders. Our FF and storm spotters couldn’t get on roads cause all of the chasers and traffic.

I mean if there’s anyone I trust less to block roads as a supercell or tornado is approaching or ongoing, it’s local first responders, especially if said road happens to be an escape route. Not saying that was the case here but my point stands. From personal experience they’re often horribly informed about the current storm or where any tornado may be. I’m not becoming a piece of debris because some volunteer FF wants to block a road.

Okay, after watching the Connor Crof video…. This is an issue and Connor is fully to blame! This is not how you act with first responders! (Still does not give any right to the FF to cause property damage) @ChasingWConnor you blatantly broke the law! Here is the order shown here in your own stream were a first responder tells you the road is closed! This is a major crime in every state! This is not okay!

@KernDog04 @WxScholl Seems like a poor life choice to not be able to mud your way out of a potentially life threatening situation. Mud tires and 4 wheel drive help when east options are blocked off.

@KSAgMapper @WxScholl No I don't, I was simply stating a fact as our car could not go on dirt roads that were saturated, and our intended east option was blocked off.

Both are true. This guy should be fired for punching a citizens window and blocking the road was illegal AND from a public safety standpoint, we were absolutely the most dangerous hazard in Kansas. The thousands of erratically driving vehicles hindered emergency response and put local citizens in danger from illegal speeding/passing.

@WickyDubs2 I’m gonna be honest, I think parking in someone’s property (as long as you’re not like driving over grass or crops) is no big deal. Especially like pull offs and lots. I do that for chasing and Astro all the time, it’s much safer than being on the road or even the shoulder
