@KalZakath

Trying to be reasonable in an unreasonable world. There is a good chance all of our beliefs do not align, however I would love a respectful conversation.

For many of us, this is the first Monday back to work after the holiday. Time to get after your goals and try to be a positive force in the world.

Almost mid day on a Sunday and there’s almost a 7k player difference. Reminder that Marathon is a mostly PC game while Destiny 2 has a massive console base. Bungie/ Sony made a huge mistake.

@DSR_Joker As much of the blame as Peye rightfully takes. How many other people were involved in allowing so many incubation projects to run and just burn cash. Do we know what Jones is working on? Sounds like a whole lot of nothing...

I see what you're saying I even respect it Counter point! FFXIV Evercold: Endwalker's Patch Content-Dawntrail 7.2 was rough FFXIV started losing players, SE/CBU3 got their shit together and 7.3-7.5 was good. Evercold looks great... so far Doesn't help Bungies bad with money:

It's depressingly ironic watching the Destiny community go from "vote with your wallets and don't buy any more DLCs!" To "no wait we didn't mean shut the game/studio down!!" in just a few days time. Like what'd y'all expect the outcome of those actions to be?

@CarpetFTW @PsalmOfAgony People blamed MS too, but look at what we got from Bungie during the "Golden Era". They make great games, but they have always been horrible at managing things. The issues is now being compounded by Sony's old live service mismanagement and now we all suffer.

@PsalmOfAgony Yeah. I'm just stunned that Sony's reaction was to sack it instead of simply being another Activision to hold them accountable. The game still had so much potential.

This is why they failed. Activision lit a fire under them. Activision refused to be put into the situation Sony is in now. They made Bungie recover from the disastrous launch of D2 and CoO. The fact Bungie intentionally cut most of LightFall is insane and would NOT have happened.
Bungie@Bungie

Today, we're announcing plans for Bungie to assume full publishing rights for the Destiny franchise. Read the full story at Bungie.net. bungie.net/en/Explore/Det…

Yea but how much of that was reused D1 assets/leftover content with 3x the dev team. No shot they do it in less than 3 to 5 years. Plus, they can't launch with just one raid and dungeon. They basically need to come out of the gate with 2 to 3 years worth of content in a Y1 roadmap.

I'm sorry, but if the reaction to Destiny 2 ending, is that hundreds of thousands of people are devastated, everyone is sharing their favorite moments, and saying how much Destiny has impacted their lives, How the fuck does Sony see that and not make Destiny 3!?

@Geezaws2 It didn't even have a Destiny 1 or 2 launch moment. It would require a FF14 style relaunch.

Many weeks ago I said that marathon needed time to break open, Destiny took 1 year to make it to TTK. 4 seasons makes the year. I didn’t expect it to come like this, but Marathon DOES have the potential for a TTK moment.
🇹🇹 Geezaws🗽@Geezaws2

@ViagraPussy it’s not, but it can set the stage for a PvE raid. They had 0 plans to make PvE a thing so with testing in S2 they can potentially make room for a PvE raid in S3 or S4

The Final Shape was a fucking masterclass in live-service community events. The story. The week-long buildup. The day one raid. Excision being the first (official) 12-man activity to kill the Witness. Then the scene looking at the Traveler reflecting on everything. Damn... I really hope I see something that amazing again before I die.
FarrisOfThemAll@FarrisOfThemAII

This debuff from Final Shape's launch will always be my favorite one of these. You had this any time you were in the Tower during launch week before Salvation's Edge dropped and it was such a cool little detail that most players probably missed.

@PaulTassi That was my thought. I was hoping the reason the HELM was in different locations each season was so they could put it in the director in different locations and let you go back and play those seasons.... Guess we got SRL instead :)

As far-fetched as it may be, the idea of rerunning old seasons with updated loot wasn’t half bad as a form of maintenance mode. Division did something like that. But yeah not gonna happen

They let management walk, or they Bungie walk with it? If there isn't some clause that allows them to pull that back, then that is on Sony and their attorneys. Acquiring a company that either misrepresented itself, or mismanaged itself into the ground (or both) seems like grounds for a termination of the contract... or something else defined within the acquisition. Either way, expect a Jason Schrier book in a couple of years on it :)

@KalZakath I've been talking about this for what feels like forever now, but what are the odds sony just lets them walk with the money? And you don't need 800 people to sustain Marathon.

I think people underestimate the structural apparatuses required to run an MMORPG Under AvB Bungie had 1000+ employees, 2 satellite studios, and where still behind on producing content. Why? Because they were working on other games, you can fallow this pattern back to Halo.
John Titor, Timewalker.@JohnTitorVT

I'm sorry but this idea that a studio of 800+ people at its peak failed because they made a second game for the first time in 15 years is just stupid beyond all rationale. The actual reason the game failed is because top leadership deliberately mismanaged the studio to inflate its value so they could directly benefit from its acquisition. EVERY problem with D2 that led to this is downstream of that reality.

@AzerothPulse @Blizzard_Ent @BlizzardCS @Warcraft Except blizzard is constantly adding content aimed at casual gamers and such. Higher end players got plenty of content every season. Exact opposite of bungee just forgetting about Destiny to make marathon. And then declaring it dead because of low player count.

Destiny 2 is shutting down. Let this be a wake up call to @Blizzard_Ent / @BlizzardCS @Warcraft Destiny was one of the best games ever made. With a highly dedicated playerbase. Those players quit because of developer laziness. Those players quit because of abusive, non existant customer support. Those players quit because of auto bans. Blizzard better think long and hard about this one.
