A lot of people assume the 7,500 bonus points cap on HDFC BizBlack's 5X category spends is a combined cap that includes SmartBuy rewards.
That's NOT true.
✅ 5X rewards on Tax/GST/Utility spends have their own cap of 7,500 bonus points per "statement cycle"
✅ SmartBuy rewards (flights, hotels, vouchers, pharmeasy, myntra, jockey etc.) are tracked separately and have their own bonus points cap/limits of 10,000 points per "calendar month"
Note: 7500 is per statement cycle and 10,000 is per calendar month cycle.
This is why BizBlack is widely considered to be a better card than Infinia... If you have both, that's maximum 32,500 accelerated points per month + Base Points!

@cards_wizard Any idea how long does icici to air india take? Did trx yesterday not come yet
English

😮💨 Dunno who needs to hear this but…
✈️ Seeing a lot of screenshots claiming ₹2, ₹3 or even ₹4 per point on Air India redemptions.
I think that's the wrong way to look at it.
📌 Just because a flight was selling for ₹1 lakh and you redeemed points for it doesn't automatically mean you extracted ₹1 lakh of value.
The real question is:
💭 "What would I have paid if points weren't an option?"
If an Indigo flight on the same route was available for ₹75,000 and that's what you would've booked, then your actual savings are much closer to ₹75,000 than ₹1 lakh.
Don't get me wrong — points can save a LOT of money.
But the best metric isn't "What was the airline charging?"
It's "How much cash stayed in my pocket?"
The rest is mostly there to make our brains feel good 😄

😮💨 Dunno who needs to hear this but… 💳 We’re still in the golden age of credit cards in India — even after recent devals. 📌 We still have cards giving 16.5% rewards on tax payments 📌 Up to ~14% on everyday spends 📌 Cards with 145k pts on joining 📌 And there is a card giving ~10% back on utilities & even gold purchases And yes — all of this is actually doable today. 📌 Better to optimise what’s available now than complain about what’s not in our control.

@KaranMohta You mean Burgundy forex card? I have that but it’s a net 0 card, m4b is still a net positive card even after forex so i prefer that.
English

Axis killing Accor has genuinely made travel card planning confusing 😭
Earlier it was simple: any foreign trip month = swipe M4B because it was almost always an AEP month. No second thoughts.
Now I’m in Japan 🇯🇵 and have done all spends on M4B for the last week. But from June 1, I’m genuinely confused because the math suddenly feels very different…
• Continue M4B → ~2.5% effective return (assuming June won’t be an AEP month, with only ~6 Japan days left)
• Switch to T1 → ~8.2% to Accor from day 1 + 0 forex
Leaning towards shifting to T1 for the rest of the trip… but abandoning M4B mid-trip after years feels weird 😂
Curious — what are you guys doing post-Accor removal? Still team M4B abroad, moved to T1, or found a better setup? 👀

@man1sh_golcha @think_in_points No harm is keeping card. We will need up paying 1800 gst for 12500 points...
English

@KaranMohta @think_in_points 12.5K points for paying 12.5K fees
English

Will most likely end up missing the ₹10L fee waiver milestone on my EPM this year.
Around 40 days left and still need ~₹2.5L spends to hit the target, but I don’t really have any major spends lined up. So I’ll probably just let this one go, pay the annual fee, and happily take the 12K bonus points that come with it.
Honestly, when I got this card last year, I was fairly confident that ₹10L spends would happen naturally on it. But the continuous devaluations have genuinely reduced the use cases to spend.

English

@man1sh_golcha @think_in_points Don't you get 10,000 points on paying the fees?
English

@think_in_points I have almost no spends on this card.

@wittysiddharth What service provider you using? Following for review

Japan’s luggage forwarding service honestly feels like a cheat code for travellers 😭
For our upcoming trip, we’re planning to send:
• 1 suitcase directly to Osaka
• 1 Tokyo-use bag also to Osaka
• 1 separate bag directly to Kyoto
And we’ll carry only 2 small bags with us for Gotemba.
The idea is to travel almost luggage-free across Japan instead of dragging huge suitcases through trains and stations 😅
Has anyone here tried this in Japan before? How smooth and reliable is the service?

@wittysiddharth M4b would be ideal on AEP, these don't make sense, you will have 40,000+ miles to choose Avios Or what ever? Pls correct
English

For my upcoming 17-day Japan trip next week, I was contemplating which credit card I should primarily use there.
Considering an overall spend of around ₹4 lakhs, let’s break down the options.
Flights and most hotels are already taken care of using points. However, in Kyoto I’ve booked a Marriott property on revenue because the points redemption didn’t make sense there. That stay alone is around ₹70K.
Other expected expenses:
• Food
• Taxi / Bus / Trains
• Shopping
• Sightseeing
So let’s see which card gives the best overall value 👇
