UK interior minister Mahmood cancelled all Sudanese student visas yesterday, because she thought that too many Sudanese students with UK visas have applied for asylum in 2025 (120 applications). Scholarship-winning Sudanese students are posting rejection letters online.

🇸🇸 More than a dozen civilians were killed in South Sudan’s Jonglei state after fighters allied to the government allegedly lured villagers from their homes with promises of food aid, survivors told the AP. Witnesses said dozens of gunmen arrived in trucks, announced an aid registration over loudspeakers, gathered residents in a cattle hut in Pankor, bound several men’s hands, and opened fire, killing up to 22 people, including women and children. Ayod County’s government-appointed commissioner blamed Agwelek militia fighters, said some had been arrested and disarmed, and disputed that victims were tricked with aid. The women I met in the Nuba Mountains that had just fled starvation and bombardment in Kadugli, South Kordofan, all had the same story:
"We were without food for so long, our homes were bombarded by drones, and our husbands are missing or could not leave. We could only bring our children. Please help us, we need food, water, shelter and we need peace.”
