Delta tried to demote my son to a lap infant. He had his own seat. I paid for his own seat. He is a child who exists and takes up space and I had financially accounted for that space on this eight hour flight. The reason they wanted to take his seat was to give it to another infant whose mother was sitting in front of us. Apparently this other baby was too heavy to be a lap infant according to Delta's own assessment. So their solution was to give her my son's seat. I want to make sure everyone is following this logic. The mother in front of me paid for lap infant accommodations. I paid for my son to have his own seat. Delta's proposed resolution to this discrepancy was to take what I paid for and give it to someone else and then I would just hold my twenty pound child for eight hours instead. And I would also apparently be responsible for this other woman's baby in my son's seat because where else would that baby be. No. Absolutely not. I did not pay for a..........

I know this is probably going to sound ridiculous to some people, but honestly this has been bothering me more than it should 😅 Every single week, my neighbor rolls their trash bins out to the curb the NIGHT before pickup. Not early morning. Not before work. The entire evening before. And now, like clockwork, I sit in my living room and the main thing I see outside my window is… garbage bins. Maybe it sounds small, but it changes the whole feel of the street. The neighborhood looks messy for half the day because someone decided their convenience matters more than how the street actually looks for everyone else. Before people jump on me, yes, obviously everyone has trash. I take mine out too. But I wait until the morning of pickup because I feel like that’s the considerate thing to do. The bins stay outside for the shortest amount of time possible and the street doesn’t spend an entire evening looking like cleanup day. What gets under my skin is that it feels so careless. Like there was never even one thought of, “Hey, maybe other people don’t want to stare at trash cans outside their homes all night.” And now I’m sitting here debating whether leaving a polite note would make me completely unreasonable 😬 Part of me thinks I should just let it go because technically they aren’t doing anything wrong. But another part of me feels like shared neighborhoods only stay nice when people think beyond just their own convenience. Am I overreacting here!

@Lexibexiio Literally 90% of the people in my neighborhood put their trash out the night before. The other 10% forget half the time and they’re stuck with it for another week.

I want to say something about @60Minutes since so many conservatives are trashing it. When my Dad was first diagnosed with Glioblastoma and we were trying to decide who he and my mother should sit down with and talk about the end days of his life - we ultimately landed on Leslie Stahl and @60Minutes. Leslie came to our ranch in Sedona and sat down and profiled both my parents together for an exclusive sit down. We ultimately chose Leslie because of her prestige as a journalist and respected history of the show. Leslie and her crew were simultaneously professional and respectful of the delicate emotional state my entire family was in. She was in our secluded home as we all grappled with the concept that my dad was dying and fast from a rare cancer in front of the entire world. She and her producers did a wonderful job. Feel free to watch it, it’s beautifully done. This is not a situation just any person without experience can airdrop and handle the dynamics of. This is not something a rookie commentator or podcaster could have maneuvered with the respect needed. Experience does matter. Not all legacy media is garbage nor are all reporters. This “throw all the bastards out” mentality is obnoxious and just going to breed more insanity and distrust on both sides. I don’t want woke journalism. I don’t want anitwoke journalism. I just want great journalism. Be careful what you wish for conservatives, - there could come a day when Rachel Maddow is put in charge instead of Bari Weiss and then tell me how you feel. Over the last few days, I’ve been thinking a lot about how deeply people responded to honoring Alan this Memorial Day. Millions of people saw his name. Thousands took the time to say it out loud, visit him, leave flowers, share photos, and remind our family that he is not forgotten. It’s had me wondering whether moments like that could become something lasting for other Gold Star families too. One idea I keep coming back to is starting the SSG Alan Shaw Foundation and creating something called Legacy Flights. The goal would be simple: helping families of the fallen visit their heroes on important days like Memorial Day, birthdays, angelversaries, and other moments that matter. When I lost Alan at 26, I was surviving. At 46, I’m finally in a place where I feel like I could build something meaningful. Something rooted in remembrance, family, and legacy. Something that outlives me. I don’t know exactly what this becomes yet, but I can’t shake the feeling that something even better is going to come from all of this. 🙏♥️
