This afternoon, we conducted a bylaw enforcement operation in Pretoria West targeting illegally constructed buildings owned by George Asaba, a Nigerian national. The properties are non-compliant and were built without approval, with illegal connections to both water and electricity. Officials found that cement had been poured over illegal cabling to prevent its removal, and the city's electrical power box had been removed from outside and placed inside the yard. Approximately 40 student accommodation rooms were also found to be under construction on the site. That’s not the problem it’s the inconsistency of application. I took a pay cut to run the entire province as PD. Also lost over 400k in my MPL payout for stepping out to do it for the party when nobody else would, I wasn’t liked by the establishment and they wouldn’t top me up. Took it on the chin because I cared about the country and KZN more but you can’t say helping to produce the DA’s highest results as PD and in the party at the time didn’t merit me a top up. No skin in the game about the current situation but this is what happens when rules are applied in a non transparent way and with no consistency. I am the only MPL that didn’t get my full package when I left and didn’t get compensated by the party for it… and yes I did ask because I knew of top ups in the party then already. The DA needs to not be defensive about this moment and even for its own internal people pause. There’s a few more people that do just as much work for the party in similar roles who have not been granted such, I withhold their names so they aren’t unfairly targeted. Just think of some people in leadership roles, also asked to lead specific campaigns who don’t have this and it’s not race specific, the problem is it’s unclear who gets to get it and who doesn’t. Also when I ran as leader the person I ran against had been in violation over numerous years of not paying their tithes, I have the proof and yet the party allowed him to run. If the same can’t be applied to others to rectify the situation then even the current leader of the DA shouldn’t have been leader…
