@aakashgupta My Dad knew a man that won a lottery in his 60’s and opted for the monthly payout. It sounds like a terrible idea but he ended up living to 107 years old. The lottery started sending people when he turned 100 to ensure he was really still alive.

The spreadsheet math on this is brutal. She left roughly $54 million on the table. Yet she probably just made the best financial decision of her life. $1M in an S&P 500 index fund at age 20 compounds to approximately $58M in inflation-adjusted terms by age 80. The historical real return is about 7% annually over 97 years of data. Her annuity pays $52,000 a year. Over 60 years that totals $3.1M. The gap is 18x. Every finance account in these replies will tell you she's wrong. The compounding math is clear. Take the lump sum, put it in VOO, don't touch it for 60 years. The Certified Financial Planner Board says roughly a third of lottery winners declare bankruptcy within five years. Illinois court records show 28% of winners who won $50K or more went bankrupt in the same window. The average winner spends 60% of their winnings on family and friends in the first two years. She's 20. Peak impulsivity, minimal financial literacy, and every person she's ever met just found out she has a million dollars in her checking account. The $1M doesn't go into a Vanguard account. It goes into the most socially pressured spending environment a human being can occupy. $1,000 a week is a permanent $52K salary, tax-free in Canada, that arrives whether she makes good decisions or catastrophic ones. Can't be drained by a partner. Can't be lost to a scam. Can't be "invested" in a cousin's restaurant. Shows up every Friday for the rest of her life. The spreadsheet says lump sum by 18x. The data on what actually happens to people who receive $1M at 20 says she just bought the most expensive insurance policy in lottery history, and it was worth every dollar she gave up.
DividendBoomer@BoomerDivvies

An 20-year-old Canadian girl won $1M (tax free in Canada) in the lottery and chose $1,000/week instead of the lump sum. Is this wise or the worst financial decision of her life? What are you doing when this happens to you??

Who told you people she was deported? The UK doesn’t just deport people like that. In most cases, she would be given time to regularize or change her immigration status, and then decide whether to stay or leave.
KHAN'✨@khanofkhans11_

Ugo is in the UK. Doing fine. The guy his ex wife was sleeping with is in the UK. Doing okay. Ex wife has been deported back to Nigeria in an attempt to deport Ugo. See how she messed up a whole thing going on by fucking another man.

About 20,000 or more houses may need to be demolished before the water crisis can be fully resolved. If you were in the governor’s position, what would you do? Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.
Basil@basilabia

He still hasn’t fixed Enugu’s legendary water crisis. Governance in Nigeria is really a class issue. Upper middle class Nigerians and wealthy Nigerians who seek public office, don’t seek public office to solve the problems bedeviling lower middle class and poor Nigerians.

I was the first Nigerian to be invited by the French Government on what it calls ‘Global Emerging Leaders. I spent two weeks or so in Paris speaking to experts at the Sorbonne, Total, Eccole de Administration and the Presidency. I was taken on a guided tour of the Louvre and the Notre Dame cathedral where I saw the original Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo etc. Up me

IBUTE IKE (Ego Mbute) Sometime December last year my laundry guy came to me to inform me that he's traveling and won't continue to wash my clothes....he brought my remaining clothes in his possession...This is a guy I have linked to all the bigger boys in my community...he goes to their houses, pick up dirty clothes, take to his shop, wash and iron, package and take back and collect his money...He was doing it and things was just moving swiftly...When I asked him where are you traveling to he said Ghana...I asked him again to go and do what exactly? He said he's going to H.K that one of his classmates is there already and is making it big that he doesn't see himself being a bigger boy with laundry business....I took my time to explain to him that he's already a bigger boy who makes money weekly because there's no week he doesn't go round to pick up dirty clothes...After talking to him he told me he already made up his mind sold his washing machine, generator, iron infact someone is on the verge of taking his shop....I asked him the people I linked you up to hope none of their clothes is in your custody he said he has delivered and never picked up fresh clothes...I said okay then safe trip to Ghana...since leaving a work that's paying you to go to HK in Ghana is better ijeoma to you. Life goes on....to my greatest surprise on our way back from Nanka yesterday...I saw him at our community bus stop...I had to tell the person carrying me to stop...I called him Chimezie abi na your ghost? He said Oga Onwa na me ooo...I came down looking at him makachi he's so lean and malnutrished...Boy what happened? Ibuterozi ike na Ghana? He said Oga Onwa what I saw in Ghana is not what I expected....All I said to him is welcome and we zoomed off.. Now he's back to square 1.... "Ife onye Cho ka ofu"

Pope Leo was captivated by this new statue of St. Augustine at the Catholic University of Central Africa, where St. Augustine stands in the shape of Africa, holding a book with the words in Latin written “Tolle lege,” (pick up and read) the words he heard in the midst of his conversion. Pope Leo blessed the statue and, as seen on the EWTN livestream, took care to ensure the photographer captured this moment. The university gifted the Holy Father a miniature of this statue. Now we know why Alhaji Atiku ran to Arise News to cry, we are seeing Kwakwaso’s spokesperson on the news pushing for the Obi x Kwakwaso ticket and news coming out of the ADC is most of the chieftains are backing this ticket. Ok now I get why he went on TV, left Tinubu and was attacking every other chieftains of the ADC, it now makes sense.

@ChifeDr @FrUgochukwu And in "Thus spoke Zarathursa", Nietzsche's madman warned us of the effect of killing God whose death we cannot atone, ultimatelg leading the killers to stray into an infinite nothingness. I hope DT recognises that this "great deed is even too great for him"

Father, Nietzsche did not call Jesus a weak man. His comments were about Christianity, which he attacked from a metaphysical standpoint referring to it as an “anemic ideal” ie the wispiest drawn spiritual vision of man in the cosmos. In “Towards a Genealogy of Morals”, Nietzsche declared Christianity a slave revolt in morals, a sort of compensation with an ‘imaginary revenge’, and ultimately, as an event that crawled out of mere Ressentiment: the rebellion of everything that crawls against everything that has height! To him, the greatest and lasting impression of the ‘anemic Christian ideal’ was purely to create a “sick animal” interminably at war with its own vital instincts. This reductive assessment normalizes an ancient idea of the Sophists highlighted by Plato in “Gorgias” that views all conventions as mock inventions that derive from the ‘weaklings who form the majority’ of mankind to hold down and enslave the stronger types. Indeed judging purely on metaphysics, the Christian ideal is light and problematic, Anselm’s doctrine of ‘Atonement’, (the ethic of sacrifice), Origen’s ‘eternal procession’ (consciousness resolving itself in itself) or Aquinas ‘Transubstantiation’ notwithstanding. But faith (a transcendental impulse) is the principal thing, as Kierkegaard affirms. Some things are simply beyond human understanding
