My American friends, I'm facing a major problem here.
When I say I want to eat American BBQ,

Last night, Speaker Mike Johnson recessed Congress and sent everyone home after rejecting a bipartisan deal to fund DHS. Republicans and Democrats in the Senate did the right thing, and it’s crazy to reject the deal and recess Congress.

The Speaker does not need Trump’s permission to take up the Senate’s bipartisan bill to fund the TSA, Coast Guard, FEMA, and our cybersecurity professionals.
His failure to act is irresponsible.
Trump and Johnson own this shutdown and the chaos it has unleashed on the public.

Last night, I voted with my House Republican colleagues to FULLY FUND the Department of Homeland Security.
This ensures Border Patrol agents, TSA officers, and federal law enforcement are paid and equipped to protect the American people.
Senators must return to Washington immediately, finish the job, and get this bill to President Trump!

Democrats defunded DHS because they don’t want to enforce immigration laws any longer.
Senator Duckworth and her colleagues punished thousands of Americans because they prefer to keep violent illegal aliens in our country.
