@thirdmetax She divorced him before he could divorce her. She was getting half either way. He comes off as the good guy here, so he can't complain. Plus he's up 12.5 mill.

Divorce lawyer James Sexton reveals a client won $50,000,000 and his wife immediately filed for divorce
“He won the lottery he used to play the Powerball and he won like $50 million so after taxes it was $25 million and he was beyond thrilled until he got told yeah she gets half”
“He was like wait why I bought the ticket I’m like you are one person in the eyes of the law if she won the lottery you’d get half of it,you won the lottery she gets half of it”
“he was suddenly very motivated that maybe we should stay together but she was like I get half of 25 million and I don’t have to deal with you anymore see ya”

@KellyScaletta Fellow Long Covid sufferer since 2021. I’m a lot better now. Can’t drink beer or wine anymore. Vodka with loads of tonic and a dash of Red Bull. No hangover. 👍

About 14 months ago, I was struggling with long covid. So I started changing my diet and eliminating processed food, milling my own flour, fermenting things, and growing sprouts to help my gut health.
At the time, I weighed 205. Today I hit 154.8. That's the lightest I've been in 35 years. My body fat% is below 20%!
And all I did was feed my microbiome. I eat some pretty insanely delicious food.

Notice how nobody in the street gives a fuck and he looks like an absolute melt.
The perfect metaphor.

@r0ck3t23 Terence may have a very high IQ, but have you seen him run? He tilts his head back and his arms flail around his sides. He don't impress me.
English

Terence Tao has an IQ above 200.
Youngest gold medalist in Math Olympiad history. Fields Medal winner. The greatest living mathematician by nearly any measure.
And he just said something most people aren’t ready for.
Tao: “This whole era of AI is teaching us that our idea of what intelligence is, is not really accurate.”
We spent centuries building civilization on one assumption.
That intelligence was sacred. Irreducible. Uniquely ours.
The one thing that made the entire human story make sense.
Then AI started solving things we swore only we could.
Chess. Language. Vision. Math.
And every time, we reached for the same defense.
That’s not real intelligence. It’s just tricks. Just pattern matching. Just an algorithm.
Tao: “You look at how it’s done and it doesn’t feel like intelligence.”
So we moved the line.
Again. And again. And again.
Because intelligence was supposed to feel like something. Something deep. Something we could point to and say… this is what separates us from everything else.
But AI kept solving the problems.
And that feeling never arrived.
Tao: “We were looking for some elusive, intelligent way of thinking and we don’t see it in the tools that actually solve our goals.”
Here’s what makes it worse.
Large language models work by predicting the next word. One word at a time. No grand architecture. No deep understanding. Just probability.
And it works.
Tao: “Maybe that’s actually a lot of what humans do as well.”
The greatest living mathematician just told you human thought might run on the same machinery.
Not some transcendent spark.
Pattern recognition. Prediction. One thought, one decision, one word at a time.
We built religion around intelligence. Philosophy around it. An entire species identity around it.
And a machine running probability just held up a mirror.
We didn’t lose intelligence to AI.
We just finally saw what it always was.
What haunts us isn’t that machines learned to think.
It’s that thinking was never what we needed it to be.

@Atomsmade When you're not religious but find yourself in a church because there's a wedding/christening/funeral . .

Religion is Bronze Age mythology that somehow still has billions of followers in 2026.
It’s stupidly embarrassing at this point.

What opinion about religion will have you like this?

I'm watching Pete Hegseth testify and anyone who does so with an open mind, will readily see that he is a caricature. He has delusions that he is starring in an action movie.
He is arrogant and ignorant. His narrative never has any depth. He speaks as if what's good and what's right are not even complex subjects, or debates borne of perspective.
He loves American Exceptionalism but believes that it's only defined by musculature and pomposity. He couldn't care less for us being a shining example for others, or a force for a greater good. He couldn't care less for sharing strategy or being accountable.
He creates lasting disdain for America on a global level like few others ever have and make no mistake - this disdain will permeate for generations.
He doesn't present arguments. He doesn't share justifications. He doesn't care for transparency, and the only thing he cares less for than that, is humanity.
As a behaviorist, I can feel the things he's been accused of - like alcoholism and misogyny and reckless sharing of info - underlying his attitude and every utterance, and you can feel how unapologetic he is for any of it.
He is a brazen politician serving an audience of one.
He is a Made for TV concoction, and a vacuous mishmash of hormones and neurotransmitters.
That he's running the US Defense Dept. is incredibly dangerous and disturbing.

@OurShallowState @TomJChicago Pete is one of those stupid people who talk about ’goodies and baddies’

Without wishing to sound disrespectful, he really has lost the fucking plot hasn't he? 'Batshit' doesn't even begin to cover it. Batshitty-watshitty?

This is what Cluster B narcissism looks like btw - invading personal space to assert dominance - passive-aggressive insults draped in compassion - overly-poetic, performative, “spiritual” language in an attempt to take the moral high ground
