@Scott_Brightman @AndrewYang JD, like any sane human, will immediately rescind Trump’s chatGPT tariffs. Read his comments on Trump’s first term tariffs

@AndrewYang Just a thought for the CEO: What if JD is the next POTUS? Perhaps, building out some domestic capacity is not such a bad idea regardless of how the tariffs play out? Perhaps supporting American jobs for a public company is not such a bad move?

A big company CEO - “We tried to explain to the administration that it takes 2 - 3 years to shift production domestically and that we would need to know the tariffs go for much longer than that to even start and they ignored us. So we are just going to cut spending.”

@AndrewYang I thought you supported the American Worker? If Trump makes a deal to give Nike an exemption on the Tariffs if they start moving manufacturing back to the USA you are going to have a lot of egg on your face.

While we are sad to leave, we are also excited about the prospect of a new adventure (details of which I’ll be sharing later). For now, we want to say thank you Ottawa. It’s been a blast and we’ll miss you!

@VegasSim @EdKrassen The tariffs only kick in when a certain threshold of goods are sold (never been hit so therefore never had a tariff). Trump negotiated and signed off on USMCA and called it the best deal ever

I looked up myself the U.S. Canadian Tariffs over the last 4 years, which is compiled together by the U.S. Census Bureau for some reason, and Canada is not even listed on the Tariff spreadsheet, for as far back as I could go! Canada has placed numerous and high level tariffs on OUR goods going to Canada for decades. How has that been fair to Americans? Canada, please explain?

The gaslighting won’t work! Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is called out by the AP on her lies about tariffs. She tries to claim that tariffs are not a tax on Americans when in fact they are, but this reporter isn’t having it.

@Brentallica @mtfitzpatrick @PoliticExplore @CNN But Trump was fine with this when he negotiated USMCA in his first term? Called it the best and fairest deal. There's a carveout % for US sales in dairy (tariff-free), and only if they exceed that do they pay the large %. This is Trumps deal! He made and signed this deal!!

But you're raping us with the import tariff on dairy. 250+% It's literal rape. Canada has taken advantage of what is clearly an unfair situation. You clearly make hockey and cheese better. Export that to us. We buy it. There shouldn't be $100B+ trade deficit. One "friend" is screwing the other. You and your neighbor want to build a fence. I suppose he pays for 90 feet of it and you pay for 10?

@JcObservant Not exactly. Theres a carved out amount as negotiated by Trump in USMCA in his first term ("the best, most fair deal ever" - DJT). When amounts go beyond those carved out amounts negotiated by Trump is when these large percentages kick in (again, this part also negotiated by DJT)

@Graham_Mark_E I'm a proud American and Trump supporter, but I do agree with your argument. I feel it's unnecessary and creates more animosity. While I approve of much of his policies. There are some things that could be done differently. Also, Trudeau has been terrible for Canada!!🇺🇲🇨🇦

America doesn't get it. We are not offended by the tariffs. Trade could have been negotiated without a fraction of the bad blood. It is the constant "51st State" and "governor" talk, while his people snicker. We became a country in 1867, specifically not to be American. 1/2

@KDReeves5 @atensnut You notice there is no mention of the huge tariffs Canada already imposes against American goods? I don't know the entirety of the "free trade" agreement but it sounds like it is time to negotiate fairly for all countries and this tariff war could end.

@HowieHain I have little issue with that, but what about the 25% across the board (now partially suspended for less than a month) on the pretense of fentanyl? The reciprocal are minuscule compared to these so-called (but not really) fentanyl ones

The worst possible way to sell a get-tough trade policy with China is to conflate the costs of that policy in the public mind with the costs of a ruinous trade war with Canada & Mexico.

We gave the CCP-controlled spy app a reprieve from federal law because too many teenagers are addicted for it to be taken away. Then we told Canada to get ready to be destroyed immediately for selling us minerals we asked for.

@kewhittington "our current stupid trade war" I mean Mexico could just stop allowing drugs and illegals into our country and it would end. China could just stop tariffing our stuff and it would end. But go off I guess.

A deeply frustrating aspect of our current stupid trade war is that this eventuality has been perfectly predictable for years and Congress left the Chekhov's gun of tariff emergency powers just sitting there b/c neither party wants to disempower the presidency even a little bit

@kewhittington China and to an extent Mexico (which is controlled by the cartels) are adversarial powers. Giving them free rein over our market is a bad idea. So it’s not a “stupid trade war”, bro. It’s us forcing better terms on people who don’t like us.
