🇪🇺🤝🇪🇷 A Potential WIN-WIN for Food Security: EU Fertiliser Action Plan + Eritrea’s Colluli Potash Project ? Today, the European Commission launched its Fertiliser Action Plan — a major step toward reducing import dependence, strengthening supply resilience, and protecting Europe from geopolitical chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz. Goal: strategic autonomy, more domestic/circular production, and resilient supply chains. 🔗 ec.europa.eu/commission/pre… Meanwhile, in Eritrea’s Danakil Depression, the Colluli Potash Project — a 50/50 JV between ENAMCO and China’s Sichuan Road and Bridge Group — stands out as one of the world’s largest and lowest‑cost sources of premium Sulfate of Potash (SOP): - Shallow open‑pit mining - >1 billion tonnes of reserves - ~200‑year mine life - Chloride‑free SOP ideal for high‑value crops - Direct Red Sea access → efficient routes to Europe, Asia & beyond - Why Eritrea’s role in global food supply is gaining attention: youtube.com/watch?v=MUiBeF… Why a WIN-WIN cooperation makes Strong Strategic Sense(SSS): EU Perspective — Fertiliser Action Plan: The plan urgently seeks supply diversification, reduced dependence on Russia/Belarus/Canada, and resilience against Strait of Hormuz-style disruptions. Colluli offers premium, chloride-free Sulfate of Potash (SOP) — ideal for EU high-value crops (fruits, vegetables, vineyards) — via a short, secure Red Sea shipping route. It directly supports the plan’s goals of strategic autonomy, efficient fertilizers, and long-term resilience. Eritrea’s Perspective: - The Colluli project can deliver transformative economic impact: - thousands of jobs, - infrastructure development, - foreign exchange, and - up to ~10% of GDP. Global Context: Rising food demand and increasing fertiliser‑supply volatility make new, competitive sources like Colluli — a low‑cost, >1‑billion‑tonne reserve with a 200‑year life — exceptionally valuable for global food security. Its location near the Red Sea adds another major strategic advantage, enabling faster, more efficient access to markets across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. Key Practical Pathways for Cooperation🤔 - Long-term Offtake Agreements European companies or member states could sign multi-year contracts to purchase Colluli SOP. This gives the EU supply certainty and Colluli revenue visibility for financing/expansion. - Responsible Investment & Financing EU development banks and private funds could provide targeted financing to scale up production and strengthen the supporting ecosystem — including logistics corridors and port infrastructure. - Technology & Sustainability Transfer Collaboration on low-carbon processing, water-efficient desalination, precision agriculture applications, and circular economy practices. Conclusion While challenges remain, the accelerating urgency of global food‑security needs — in an increasingly unpredictable world — is creating new space for pragmatic, constructive, and mutually beneficial engagement. In a period defined by supply disruptions and heightened volatility, strategic partnerships like this can strengthen resilience and ensure more stable, reliable access to food for millions. Food security is becoming strategic security. Pragmatic partnerships will define the next decade. This is what a future‑oriented, mutually beneficial cooperation model looks like. What do you think — a realistic opportunity for Europe, Eritrea, and global food stability? #EUFertiliserActionPlan #Fertilizer #Potash #EU #Eritrea #FoodSecurity #Colluli @hawelti @G_Haile @AmbStesfamariam @Sharronyemane @KfW_FZ_int @GermanEmbasssy @JoannaDarmanin @vonderleyen @FikreJesus

Whether whatever he is smoking is the cause, or he genuinely believes it, I’m buying whatever he is selling. Perhaps when he calls Eritrea the “Holy Land,” he is referring to the kindness, dignity, resilience, and peaceful nature of the Eritrean people. Or maybe he is referring to the sacred land where our martyrs rest, heroes and heroines who sacrificed everything so Eritrea could stand free and sovereign. If that is what he means by holiness, then he may not be entirely wrong. #Eritrea

ETHIOPIA — ⚡️ Today, the UK government released a report examining the risks businesses may encounter when operating in #Ethiopia, including weak intellectual property protections, human rights concerns, bribery and corruption, terrorism and security threats, tax and customs disputes, land rights issues, and bureaucratic barriers. gov.uk/government/pub… Invest in Ethiopia at your own risk, as the saying that goes.

The Anatomy of Revisionism: Dismantling the Prosperity Party’s Hostile Campaign against Eritrean Sovereignty Ministry of Foreign Affairs Research and Documentation Center 19 May 2026 "The Prosperity Party’s three-year hostile campaign against Eritrea exemplifies a dangerous pattern of externalizing domestic structural failures through aggressive foreign policy...Throughout these sustained provocations, the Government of Eritrea has maintained a principled position grounded in international law and a prudent policy of patience and restraint". shabait.com/2026/05/19/the…

#QUESTION: Welcome to Egyptian media, and you, sir, about Egyptian-Eritrean relation at their peak, and at a very intense momentum, with the understanding between you, sir, and president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi that laid the foundations of cooperation. What will the future of this cooperation look like? #PIA: Honesty, in many different fields, this is historic strategic relationship that needs creating suitable mechanisms and channels for it. The recent visit is a continuation of the same path so that we can reach the desired level of partnership between Eritrea and Egypt. * software translation

#BREAKING ⚡️Armed bandits in #Ethiopia’s Benishangul-Gumuz region today massacred more than 34 truck drivers, and burned dozens of trucks along the Gilgel Beles-Mankush route. Kidnappings and highway robberies have become rampant across many parts of the country as the Abiy Ahmed administration continues to struggle to maintain control outside the capital. However, the scale and brutality of this attack stand out even by recent standards. DISCLAIMER: Video might contain disturbing scenes.

Breaking News‼️ The U.S. Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) has officially announced the termination of the arms embargo on Ethiopia. Key Details: • Policy Change: DDTC has removed the policy of denial for ITAR-controlled exports, reexports, and temporary imports involving Ethiopia. • Current Review Process: License applications for ITAR-controlled activities (defense articles and defense services) with Ethiopia are now reviewed on a case-by-case basis. • Upcoming Update: A forthcoming amendment to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) § 126.1 will formally remove Ethiopia from the list of embargoed countries. This reverses the 2021 policy (codified in November 2021 via Federal Register notice), which had imposed a denial policy for exports to Ethiopian armed forces, police, intelligence, or internal security forces amid the Tigray conflict and related sanctions under Executive Order 14046.
