On May 7th, the MegaETH Foundation completed its first MEGA buyback, using all net rewards accrued from the USDm issuer up until the end of April. Current USDm supply sits at $480M. We intend future buybacks to be programmatic and onchain.

MegaETH는 real time Ethereum을 지향하는 체인답게, 생태계 앱들도 공통적으로 “빠른 반응 속도”와 “쉽게 즐길 수 있는 UX”를 강조하는 느낌이었습니다. 1. @hitdotone Hitone은 CEO 분이 직접 오셔서 발표해주셨는데, 트레이딩을 훨씬 더 캐주얼하고 게임처럼 풀어낸 프로젝트입니다. 복잡한 DeFi 화면보다는, perps나 options 같은 트레이딩 요소를 더 직관적이고 재미있는 방식으로 접근하게 만드는 앱에 가까워 보였습니다. 2. @Euphoria_fi Euphoria는 현장에서 직접 해본 Prediction Game이 인상적이었습니다. ETH가 어디로 움직일지 예측하고 베팅하는 방식인데, 생각보다 직관적이고 재미있었습니다. MegaETH의 빠른 속도가 이런 탭 기반 트레이딩 UX와 잘 맞는다는 느낌을 받았습니다. 3. @worldmarketsinc World Markets, 혹은 WCM은 현물, 선물, 렌딩을 하나의 계정 구조 안에서 연결하려는 온체인 거래 플랫폼입니다. MegaETH의 빠른 체결 환경을 가장 직접적으로 활용할 수 있는 DeFi 프로젝트 중 하나로 보였습니다. 4. @brix_money Brix는 tokenized, yield bearing stablecoins and assets 쪽 프로젝트입니다. 쉽게 말하면 수익이 붙는 스테이블 자산과 온체인 실물 자산 영역을 다루는 프로젝트로 보였고, RWA와 스테이블 자산 시장이 커지는 흐름 안에서 흥미로운 포지션을 가지고 있었습니다. 5. @terr Terr는 현장에서 들은 설명 기준으로는 에이전트 기반 프로젝트에 가까워 보였습니다. 사람이 모든 행동을 직접 하나하나 하는 앱이라기보다, 여러 에이전트들이 목적에 따라 움직이고 상호작용하는 구조를 실험하는 느낌이었습니다. 베타만 봐서 정식 출시되면 한번 사용해봐야게습니다. 다른 프로젝트도 있었던거 같은데 기억이 안나네요 흑. 이번 밋업을 보면서 느낀 건 MegaETH가 인프라만 강조하는 게 아니라, 사람들이 실제로 쓰고 즐길 수 있는 앱들을 꽤 적극적으로 밀고 있다는 점입니다. 빠른 체인 위에 빠른 앱. 그리고 그 앱들이 게임처럼 쉽게 다가오는 구조. 암튼 시간 가는 줄 모르고 즐겼던 메가이더 밋업이었습니다. 메가이더 (MegaETH) 오프라인 밋업 후기 @megaeth @hotpot_dao @fireant_korea 2026년 5월 7일 목요일, 선릉역에 있는 '빅플레이스'에서 메가이더 오프라인 밋업이 열렸습니다. 사실 메가이더는 이미 업비트, 빗썸을 비롯해 코인베이스와 바이낸스까지 주요 거래소에 모두 상장된 프로젝트입니다. 보통 많은 프로젝트가 한국 시장을 엑싯(Exit) 창구로 여기고 상장 후에는 마케팅을 소홀히 하는 경우가 많기에, 이번 밋업이 과연 어떤 의미가 있을지 궁금증을 안고 행사장으로 향했습니다. 하지만 오늘 현장에서 느낀 메가이더 파운더의 의지는 확고했습니다. 특히 인상 깊었던 점은 메가이더 생태계 내의 다양한 프로젝트 파운더들이 대거 참여하여 직접 자신들의 비전을 공유했다는 것입니다. 이름만 걸어놓은 생태계가 아니라, 실질적으로 협력하는 파트너들이 이토록 많다는 사실을 확인하니 프로젝트의 로드맵에 대해 더욱 불리쉬(Bullish)한 느낌이 들었습니다. 이 정도로 탄탄한 내실과 생태계 확장성을 갖추고 있기에, 상장 이후임에도 한국 시장 마케팅에 이토록 공을 들이는 것이 비로소 납득이 가는 시간이었습니다. ➖ 파운더의 기조연설을 통해 메가이더(MegaETH)의 이름에 담긴 뜻도 처음 알게 되었습니다. 트럼프의 슬로건인 MAGA를 연상시키는 "Make Ethereum Great Again"의 약자라고 하더군요. 한때 토큰 세일에 참여했을 정도로 이 프로젝트를 좋게 보고 있었지만, 정작 이름의 의미조차 오늘 처음 알게 된 제 모습을 보며 투기적인 관점으로만 접근했던 것은 아닌지 스스로 반성하는 시간도 가졌습니다. This is an email I sent earlier today to all employees at Coinbase: Team, Today I’ve made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%. I want to walk you through why we're doing this now, what it means for those affected, and how this positions us for the future. Why now Two forces are converging at the same time. We need to be front footed to respond to both. First, the market. Coinbase is well-capitalized, has diversified revenue streams, and is well-positioned to weather any storm. Crypto is also on the verge of the next wave of adoption, with stablecoins, prediction markets, tokenization, and more taking off. However, our business is still volatile from quarter to quarter. While we've managed through that cyclicality many times before and come out stronger on the other side, we’re currently in a down market and need to adjust our cost structure now so that we emerge from this period leaner, faster, and more efficient for our next phase of growth. Second, AI is changing how we work. Over the past year, I’ve watched engineers use AI to ship in days what used to take a team weeks. Non-technical teams are now shipping production code and many of our workflows are being automated. The pace of what's possible with a small, focused team has changed dramatically, and it's accelerating every day. All of this has led us to an inflection point, not just for Coinbase, but for every company. The biggest risk now is not taking action. We are adjusting early and deliberately to rebuild Coinbase to be lean, fast, and AI-native. We need to return to the speed and focus of our startup founding, with AI at our core. What this means To get there, we are not just reducing headcount and cutting costs, we’re fundamentally changing how we operate: rebuilding Coinbase as an intelligence, with humans around the edge aligning it. What does this mean in practice? - Fewer layers, faster decisions: We are flattening our org structure to 5 layers max below CEO/COO. Layers slow things down and create coordination tax. The future is small, high context teams that can move quickly. Leaders will own much more, with as many as 15+ direct reports. Fewer layers also means a leaner cost structure that is built to perform through all market cycles. - No pure managers: Every leader at Coinbase must also be a strong and active individual contributor. Managers should be like player-coaches, getting their hands dirty alongside their teams. - AI-native pods: We’ll be concentrating around AI-native talent who can manage fleets of agents to drive outsized impact. We’ll also be experimenting with reduced pod sizes, including “one person teams” with engineers, designers, and product managers all in one role. In short: AI is bringing a profound shift in how companies operate, and we’re reshaping Coinbase to lead in this new era. This is a new way of working, and we need to leverage AI across every facet of our jobs. To those who are affected I know there are real people behind these decisions — talented colleagues who have poured themselves into this company and our mission. To those of you who will be leaving: thank you. You’ve helped build Coinbase into what it is today, and I am sincerely grateful for everything you've done. All impacted team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and a senior leader in your organization. Coinbase system access has been removed today. I know this feels sudden and harsh, but it is the only responsible choice given our duty to protect customer information. To those affected, we will be providing a comprehensive package to support you through this transition. US employees will receive a minimum of 16 weeks base pay (plus 2 weeks per year worked), their next equity vest, and 6 months of COBRA. Employees on a work visa will get extra transition support. Those outside of the US will receive similar support, based on local factors and subject to any consultation requirements. Coinbase prides itself on talent density. Our employees are among the most talented people in the world, and I have no doubt that your skills and experience will be highly sought after as you pursue your next chapters. How we move forward To the team that is staying, I know this is a difficult day. We’re saying goodbye to colleagues and friends you've been in the trenches with. But here’s what I want you to know as we move forward together: Over the past 13 years, we have weathered four crypto winters, gone public, and built the most trusted platform in our industry. We’ve made it this far by making hard decisions and by always staying focused on our mission. This time will be no different – nothing has changed about the long term outlook of our company or industry. And most importantly, our mission has never been more important for the world.
