A special gift from my student! Some people I showed it to asked me why the student would gift me with a Quran knowing that I’m not a Moslem. My answer is that we should always try to know and understand the other, even if we don’t belong to their group. Many dangerous stereotypes in society are sustained by our ignorance about those we are biased against. Much of it came out when I organised the ‘traditional spirituality and witchcraft’ dialogue with Dr Sekagya, and many who dared to attend were shocked to learn that there was much more than their biases allowed them to know. Let’s never run away from knowledge, whether we agree with it or not. You can’t disagree with what you don’t understand. You can only be prejudiced. I’m happy to own an English copy of the Quran.
