Might be worth a reminder that the Ford PCs have built practically nothing. They've spent a lot of money on consultations and planning, but no new highways or spas or science centers or renovated airports have been delivered. They've torn down more than they will ever build.
Prabmeet Sarkaria@PrabSarkaria

If it were up to the NDP and Liberals, Ontario wouldn’t build anything. Our government supports the long-term expansion and modernization of Billy Bishop Airport to give travellers more options, bring more competition to the air travel sector and support thousands of good-paying jobs. Great to join CP24 to discuss.

🚨 BREAKING: The army is retreating and giving up positions. Putin is losing already captured territory Russia’s offensive has stalled. For the first time in a long while, Russia is not just standing still — it is moving backward, not forward. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), in April 2026 Russian forces withdrew from positions covering an area of 116 square kilometers. This is the first recorded instance of such territorial losses since August 2024. The Russian army has begun to lose territory it had previously captured. For Moscow, this is an especially troubling signal: after months of pressure and attempts to push the front line forward, there are now signs that holding the line is becoming increasingly difficult.

The idiocy of Putin's regime, moving all the country's air defenses to protect a propaganda parade in Moscow. Its going to be an amazing week.

According to the South Korean Yonhap News Agency, South Korean government officials are checking into reports that a South Korean-flagged vessel has been struck in the Strait of Hormuz. The report quotes an unnamed South Korean official, stating, "There have been reports of no casualties, and we are checking the exact facts." The most recent reported attack in the region, noted by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center (UKMTO), was at 1940 UTC yesterday. More to come.

Airlines have never before planned around fuel availability - only price. That changed this week. Global airlines cut 2 million seats from May schedules in the past two weeks alone. Lufthansa cancelled 20,000 flights through October. Singapore and Tokyo asked carriers not to add extra services to limit jet fuel use. Vietnam has introduced rationing. The summer travel season starts in weeks.

If I had been taught in primary school that Amelia Earhart died because men ignored dozens of distress calls from her, that would've been a lot more helpful to my life than growing up scared of the Bermuda Triangle. smh

LOL US Officials now desperately walking back Trump's claims. Says they will only "coordinate" telling the civilian ships the "safe lanes" to travel across the Strait by themselves. Despite the fact that he threatened to use "force" against any interference. 🤣🤣🤣
Alex Ward@alexbward

President Trump did not announce an escort mission just now, US officials say. Project Freedom, earlier called the Maritime Freedom Construct, is a coordination cell. It’ll tell US-flagged ships and others the safe lanes to navigate the Strait of Hormuz (aka no mines, etc.)

BREAKING: In a direct response to Trump's new US Navy operation, Iran's National Security Commission Chairman Azizi says any US interference with the Strait of Hormuz will be considered a violation of the ceasefire, dismissing Trump's "Project Freedom" announcement as "delusional posts" and rejecting any "blame-shifting scenarios," per Tasnim. The "blame-shifting" Azizi rejected refers to Trump's framing of Project Freedom as a humanitarian and freedom of navigation operation, which lets him argue Iran blocking the mission would be the war-initiating act, allowing him to authorize US strikes on Iran without Congressional approval. This works around his 60-day war authorization which expired May 1.

🚨 World Press Freedom Day: a testimony from Gaza journalist Fadi Al-Wahidi. Shot on October 9, 2024 in Jabalia refugee camp while covering the war for Al Jazeera, he was clearly marked as press when he was struck in the neck by Israeli fire. The attack left him paralyzed. Colleagues who were calling out to him were killed. Despite a life-threatening spinal injury, his evacuation was delayed for months amid repeated denied transfer requests, until he was finally evacuated on February 10, 2025 to Cairo and then Qatar for treatment. “There is no press freedom… my injury is the proof. But my voice is still here.”

Iranians propose a plan that starts with the strait gradually reopening. US takes the proposal, sends a response. Shortly thereafter, Trump announces plan to guide neutral ships out of the strait. Trump's message does not reject (or accept) Iranian proposal, but notes that talks are moving in a positive direction.
