The Cameroonian government has approved a plan to transform the coastal area between Limbe and Mondoli into an El Dorado of ecotourism. The Limbe-Mondoli tourism project, according to the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Gabriel Mbairobe, is an ambitious initiative aimed at developing a "futuristic city" in Limbe, focusing on transforming the coastal area into a premier tourist destination. The areas include Ndame Island, Mondoli/Motondo, and Bimbia, with infrastructure that will be developed into tourist cabins, restaurants, and solar power to boost the local blue economy. While approving the project during a cabinet meeting recently, Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute stated that it will bring more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs. Promoted by Dr. Sammy Tita Fombang, the initiative is an integrated tourism and mixed-use development planned on approximately 125 hectares in the Limbe-Mondoli corridor in the Southwest Region.
