some that I have still bring the adrenaline
but that first feeling is priceless but it weakens quickly
then you start collecting and see all your cars as one big puzzle

I definitely have a pretty loaded driveway, so I feel the opposite about cars, but to each their own. Childhood dreams don’t always fade hard.
That said, once you make some money, this feeling usually shows up somewhere. The big purchases are exciting for a bit, then the novelty fades way faster than you expect. Most things normalize surprisingly quickly.

Short story. I bought my dream car. It felt great for a few days. Then it mostly sat unused. Then it became an annoying expense. Then I sold it and realized, once again, that material items bring me no joy.

In 20 years people will look back at this time in the automotive industry as a once in a lifetime event.
2020-2025 is basically the end of cars as we’ve known them for the last 50 years.
The transition is occurring and it’s occurring fast. Within the next 5-8 years most of these cars will be unrecognizable, downsizing engines, more hybrid, full EV overhauls.
People keep complaining about the prices of some of these cars but are failing to zoom out on the big picture of it all.
What’s there is all that will ever be left. The V12s, the V10s, huge V8s. Never again. What’s there is what’s there and the automotive world is deflationary in nature. Crashes, miles, damage.
So you can keep waiting for those cars to come down, but in reality they likely won’t and you will be out priced before you fully understand.
These cars aren’t just regular production vehicles anymore. They are stamps of a time in history where Cars became something different entirely. The last era of true enthusiast vehicles.
