Thanks to @POTUS, the United States is the world’s top oil and natural gas producer. We are also the largest natural gas exporter and a top oil exporter. To be clear, the Trump administration has no plan to implement restrictions on oil and gas exports.

Any news article about pollution from plastic bags or other plastic products that does not point out that the US produces essentially zero per capita plastic pollution is ridiculously misleading. You can't even see the US here because it's basically on the x-axis. In a lot of countries, people literally just throw all their trash in the river. That's the plastic problem.

@Legal_Fil If you are in Europe, sure. But this is not something that matters much for the US. Only potential impact is in New England.

Reminder: Not all crude oil is the same. The U.S. produces mostly lighter and less sulfurous crude oils, but imports heavier more sulfurous crude oils to better match what U.S. refineries are configured to process.

California's electricity prices are 2x HIGHER than the national average. ~20% of California’s oil refinery capacity is shutting down due to two refinery closures.   Over 60% of California's crude oil is imported from foreign sources. California has the HIGHEST gas prices in the country—nearly $2 more than the national average.   California has the HIGHEST gas taxes & fees in the country at over 70 cents/gal.   …Which ones of these are "fake"?
Governor Newsom Press Office@GovPressOffice

@SecretaryWright The Trump administration's taxpayer-funded oil and gas lobbyist has spoken: armed with fake research from a Koch-funded fossil fuel front group. Your comments are both ignorant and insincere. Either way, you're raising prices on Americans nationwide. Disgraceful.

Why exactly do they need two years of federal mandates to unleash production to meet demand today? They will gladly do their patriotic duty to bolster energy security! (Just as soon as their gravy train gets a multi year extension)
Jarrett Renshaw@JarrettRenshaw

Today, six trade associations wrote a letter to President Trump urging him to unleash U.S. biodiesel and renewable diesel production to bolster America’s energy security during the conflict with Iran.

NEWS: The Trump administration is planning to temporarily waive the century-old Jones Act that requires American ships be used to ferry goods between US ports in a bid to blunt surging oil & gas prices. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

The data center buildout has allowed Loudoun County to lower property tax rates by 38% since 2010, translating to average savings of about $3,400 per year for homeowners.

@AMPmaritime This demonstrates the zealotry of JA defenders. They know and admit that the law's application to LNG shipments to New England does zilch for the US maritime industry while imposing costs on Americans, yet still vigorously oppose any exemption.

An overlooked component of Texas’s economic success is the very low share of federally-owned land. When Texas joined the Union, it negotiated to retain control of its public lands. Much of that land was later sold to developers to retire state debt and endow public education. Combined with strong private property rights, development decisions outside of cities largely rest with private landowners rather than politicians or regulators. By contrast, many western states were carved out of federal territories, leaving Washington in control of vast acreage today. That difference still shapes outcomes, as building on private land is an order of magnitude easier than navigating the constraints that come with federal ownership.

Data centers should be an easy issue. The companies using them have infinite cash and good prospects for future profitability. A massive tax windfall for a county or city is PEANUTS for the AI company. Just offer people “5 years of no property taxes charged on you if we can build this thing”

@lymanstoneky @RAVerBruggen They’ve become a scapegoat for rising electricity bills. Politicians (the real cause of higher rates) are telling every microphone that these AI data centers that have only been built in the last 3 yrs are to blame, not the last 15 yrs of policy choices.

@mattyglesias Because politicians (largely, but not exclusively, Dems) have told people that data centers are the cause of their rising bills as a way to deflect from the long term policy choices that are the actual cause.
