Two male nilgai—the largest antelope of India—square up and lock horns in a fierce neck-fight. They shove and twist, muscles bunching, hooves grinding dry earth as dust billows. Between bursts they circle, ears taut, then crash together again, testing stamina and nerve. After a final heave, one bull breaks and steps back; the victor stands tall, chest forward, the scrubland settling around them. @bhlab_india @wii_india @GobindsagarBha1 @rameshpandeyifs @vrtiwari1 Video@Tanya Vyas

Here is a fabulous insight from the turtle tagging project from TN Forest Department. On the night of 8 January 2026 we had tagged the , the first Olive Ridley turtle 'Kayal' at the Besant Nagar Beach, After her release, Kayal travelled southward, reaching as far as Marakkanam, before spending nearly 20 days in near-shore waters. Then, in a remarkable display of nesting-site fidelity, she has returned once again this time to Marina Beach on 1 February, to nest for the second time this season. What makes this return even more special is her health and resilience: Kayal laid 135 eggs, almost matching her earlier clutch of 137 eggs, indicating that she remains in excellent condition. Whether Kayal will return to nest once more this season remains to be seen. Dr Suresh @sureshwii tells me, early signs suggest that more such returns may follow. Over the next few days, the other tagged turtles Arasi and Iniya are expected to nest for the second time as well as these are remaining much closer to the shore indicating imminent nesting. Together, these early insights are offering a rare window into the intimate rhythms of Olive Ridley turtles along the Tamil Nadu coast, reinforcing why safeguarding near-shore waters and nesting beaches is so critical #TNForest @tnforestdept @IUCN @WWFINDIA @wii_india

That tiny fold on a wild dog’s ear isn’t a flaw—it’s Henry’s pocket. A small adaptation that may help with sound precision and ear protection. Nature fine-tunes survival in details we overlook—just like the species we risk losing if we stop paying attention. @bhlab_india @wii_india @GobindsagarBha1 @rameshpandeyifs @ntca_india @IBCA_official @SPYadavIFS @piyushajagtap @MahaForest

Into the Wild - carrying with them a quiet promise. A promise that every step they take, every hunt, every unseen journey through forests and grasslands will now help us understand their elusive lives a little better. Collaring is not an end, but a beginning. A bridge between science and survival. Through these tiny signals, we hope to learn how they move, how they share space, how they persist against odds we rarely see. Knowledge that can shape better protection, safer landscapes, and a future where wild dogs continue to thrive in the wild - not just in stories. As they disappear back into the wilderness, we watch with humility, hope, and deep respect. Run free. Teach us gently. We are listening. @bhlab_india @wii_india @GobindsagarBha1 @rameshpandeyifs @SPYadavIFS @JagtapPiyusha @MahaForest

Winter is here! ❄️ The cold has brought out thicker, richer coats across the grasslands. The Indian wolf is captivating with deepening blacks and glowing tawny hues, while the hyenas appear delightfully chubbier in their winter layers. #grassland #wildlife #winter #wolf #hyena

First recorded sighting of #BlackBaza from Uttarakhand. Probably it’s also the first sighting in the entire western Himalaya. Along with this, the latest bird survey in #NandhaurWildlifeSancturary documented 215 different species of birds in the area. 🙏🏻👏🏻 @Team_eBird @Natures_Voice

Biological models don’t predict truth—they reveal our assumptions. Their power lies in logical clarity, not mathematical elegance. Good models are tests of thinking, not ornaments of theory. @bhlab_india link.springer.com/article/10.118…

Camera-trap insights from the Trans-Himalayan Spiti reveal adaptive space–time strategies among snow leopards, wolves, and foxes, enabling their coexistence in human-influenced landscapes. However, free-ranging dogs—an anthropogenically subsidised predator—stand out as a growing conservation concern due to their potential impacts on native carnivores and ecological dynamics. 🔗 Read the study: nsojournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10… @serbonline @Himalayanwolf1 @wii_india @GobindsagarBha1 @rameshpandeyifs @AcSIR_India

Neural networks are game-changers in data science, uncovering complex patterns and insights that traditional methods can’t. If you're in this field, understanding them is a must. To help you dive into this topic, I’ve created a comprehensive tutorial that explains how to build and train a neural network in Python using TensorFlow, Keras, and Scikit-Learn. Check out the tutorial: statisticsglobe.com/neural-network… I’ve also created a series of posts on related topics across my social media channels. Here are a few examples: - Convolutional Neural Networks: linkedin.com/feed/update/ur… - Reinforcement Learning: x.com/JoachimSchork/… - Activation Functions: facebook.com/joachim.schork… Want to dive deeper into R, Python, and data science? Two decades of human–elephant conflict in Jharkhand reveal clear spatial drivers of human fatalities—fragmented forests, roads, mines & forest edges matter. Targeted, landscape-level mitigation is key. Evidence based understanding is key for planning conflict mitigation. @moefcc @rameshpandeyifs @SPYadavIFS @GobindsagarBha1 @bhlab_india @wildwithwolves @AnukulNath4 @NigamP @wii_india doi.org/10.1002/ece3.7…
