भागलपुर की गंगा पर बीस साल बाद इंडियन स्कीमर लौट आया है। यह कोई आम पक्षी नहीं है। यह वहीं रहता है जहाँ पानी साफ हो, बहाव सही हो और मछलियाँ भरपूर हों। जहाँ नदी बीमार है, यह वहाँ नहीं ठहरता। बीस साल। दो दशक। एक पूरी पीढ़ी। विक्रमशिला डॉल्फ़िन रिज़र्व में स्कीमर का लौटना सिर्फ एक संकेत नहीं, एक प्रमाण है। पानी की गुणवत्ता सुधर रही है। जैव विविधता वापस आ रही है। नदी का पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र फिर से संतुलन की ओर है। गंगा सिर्फ एक नदी का नाम नहीं है। यह डॉल्फ़िन, मछली, पक्षी और किनारे बसे करोड़ों लोगों का साझा घर है। जब नदी ठीक होती है, तो जीवन अपने आप लौट आता है। यह बस शुरुआत है। #NamamiGange #IndianSkimmer #Bhagalpur

A landmark moment for gibbon conservation in India! 🐵 A male Western Hoolock Gibbon was today recorded crossing the canopy bridges with safety nets over the railway line in Hollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary. This is the first confirmed use by a gibbon in the Sanctuary — and the first documented use of a canopy bridge structure over a railway line anywhere in the world! The bridges were designed and deployed as a mitigation measure for the electrification works on the existing single-track Lumding-Dibrugarh railway line passing through the Sanctuary, during February-March 2025. A proud moment for all stakeholders and a ray of hope for mitigating the impacts of linear infrastructure on India’s only ape. However, long-term solutions — careful infrastructure planning and eco-conscious siting and creating reforested corridors to connect isolated populations — remain critical for the long-term survival of exclusively arboreal and threatened species like gibbons.
