🚨Important update: Mississippi just passed a bill that makes illegal immigration a state crime - great news. Here's the background: for years the state senate killed bills to do this. But last year, President Trump made illegal immigration a huge focus in office. I drove around the state in December arguing now was the time for this new law. Making illegal immigration a state crime gives greater leeway to our state and local law enforcement officers to assist ICE. It also creates an even stronger deterrent against illegal immigrants coming here. This is necessary because illegal immigrants cost Mississippi taxpayers roughly $100 million per year in education, healthcare, and crime costs. Now, thanks to your calls and influence, lawmakers have responded. The bill is soon headed to the governor's desk. When we fight together, we win together. Great job by Sen.
