England's water industry and govt put put inflated numbers about the cost of nationalisation. I asked the Minister to explain the social cost of leaving water in private ownership. It is likely to be over £1 trillion by 2050. Question was notified in advance. Watch his reply.

So govt finally coughs it up, the whole "it'll cost £100 billion to nationalise the water industry" is totally bogus, complete and utter made up nonsense. As we always knew, no matter what ministers claimed, @Defra today has finally published their methodology confirming that their calculation does indeed use @Ofwat's factious, made up, notional value for the water industry, their regulatory capital value, you know, the one that claims that @thameswater is worth a staggering £21,008,425,000. What a complete and utter shambles. No doubt ministers will be keen to apologies for wilfully misleading the public.

Just when it seems there are no words left to describe the living hell in Gaza, a new one has been added: “famine”. This is not a mystery — it is a man-made disaster, a moral indictment and a failure of humanity itself. Famine is not only about food; it is the deliberate collapse of the systems needed for human survival. People are starving. Children are dying. And those with the duty to act are failing. As the occupying power, Israel has unequivocal obligations under international law — including the duty of ensuring food and medical supplies of the population. We cannot allow this situation to continue with impunity. No more excuses. The time for action is not tomorrow — it is now. We need an immediate ceasefire, the immediate release of all hostages and full, unfettered humanitarian access.

@thameswater 4 way lights on Sherrydon/Ewhurst Road/Park Drive Cranleigh for your highways works not functioning properly yet again. Incudes an access road to a school and causing considerable disruption. Lights due to be there for a couple of months please ensure they work.

Oh look, spot inspections reveal that 1 in 5 water company discharge permits are being breached. Who'd have guessed. Question is what are the @EnvAgency ever going to do about any it? Oh and how is that now three and a half year old "largest ever criminal investigation" into permit breaches going? Hmm?!

Respectable diplomacy is essential for peace. We need to remember that the villain is the war criminal President Putin who illegally invaded another sovereign country - Ukraine. A divided West only benefits Russia. Now is the time for more cooperation, not less. Any peace agreement must be negotiated with Ukraine at the table, and will need security guarantees. We cannot lose sight of the fact that tonight air raid sirens are sounding in Ukraine.
